Job Description:
The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative community with men, women, children, and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish. As a member of the Development Team, the Development Officer, Corporate Partnerships, will manage a caseload of clearly defined corporate relationships with the primary goal of securing gift-in-kind and pro-bono services to support The Bowery Mission's program operations. These relationships may also lead to financial support and volunteer engagement, and the Development Officer will oversee and ensure the fulfillment of corporate sponsorship obligations relating to their caseload. As a member of the Partnerships team within the larger Development Team, the Development Officer will actively collaborate with team members to ensure each partner is engaged in appropriate and fruitful ways. The Development Officer, Partnerships supports a critical organizational goal to grow collaborative partnerships and ensure the efficient use and good stewardship of resources to support The Bowery Mission's life transforming programs.This team operates on a Hybrid Schedule requiring 2 days onsite (Tribeca Campus) and 3 days remote (subject to change).Specific Responsibilities:Gifts-in-Kind Growth.
  • Cultivate, steward, and grow current corporate partnerships and originate new partnerships. Achieve an annual financial revenue goal agreed to prior to each fiscal year with the Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships.
  • Work with the Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships to annually set revenue goals (primarily gifts-in-kind), goals that help reduce programmatic expenses and create a plan to achieve those goals.
  • Review revenue and report progress regularly to the Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships, while managing a caseload of clearly defined relationships and engage with them through phone calls, letters, thank you notes, face-to-face meetings/tours, ensuring that all partners on caseload are cultivated on a regular basis and solicited for gifts appropriate to the Mission and partner's priorities.
Collaborate closely with internal Departments on all aspects relating to corporate partnerships donations.
  • Take the lead in overseeing inter-Departmental collaboration on all aspects relating to gift-in-kind donations and pro-bono services, by developing effective communication strategies to increase contacts with staff members of the Food Services, Logistic, Finance, and Programs teams, on the strategy and processes of gifts-in-kind.
  • Lead regular and ad hoc meetings with inter-Departmental colleagues to align strategic priorities in identifying gift-in-kind processes, needs, inventory, and procurement to ensure stability in this function.
From time to time, join events with corporate partners to raise funds for the Mission.
  • Coordinate closely with all appropriate members of the Development Team to accomplish event objective.
  • Exercise discretion in donor and personnel matters, paying attention to matters of confidentiality.
  • Coordinate and work closely with other members of the Development Team.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Growing passion for those experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit in identifying, cultivating and stewarding corporate donors with an imaginative and creative approach.
Preferred:
  • At least two (2) years of corporate or donor-facing fundraising experience.
  • Experience working with donations from the corporate sector.
  • Knowledge of nonprofits and philanthropy.
  • High proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office software.
