We have been retained by our client in Houston to deliver a DevOps Solution Architect on a contract basis, with contract to hire is an option. Join our clients advanced I.T., Development teams, as a dedicated resource of the DevOps & Platforms team, all working onsite central Houston. We seek a consultant who enjoys team work onsite, in-person. Work across app dev team, infrastructure team as a leader charting the path to scaling the existing environment, scaling the practices and planning for future scaling. Gather existing architecture and discuss future scaling plans with the Software Engineering and Development teams. Initially, get a good handle, and a good grip on the application architecture, development, testing, observability, monitoring and the best ways to build an environment that is easier to support. Work with app dev teams to understand technical requirements. Design and define the physical infrastructure architecture, as well as the application architecture on top of the infrastructure, with a keen eye on security, availability, and last but not least, best ways to scale now, and scale in the future. Work with devops, infrastructure, and platforms teams to plan and develop, test, stage, user acceptance test, and plan for production environments. Manage budgets, licensing, project timelines. Implement best practices for Azure DevOps CI/CD, monitoring, and automation. Develop and maintain documentation related to architecture, processes, and procedures. Provide technical leadership and guidance to development and operations teams. Stay updated with industry trends and technologies to ensure cutting-edge solutions. Vet new technologies for fit, security, costs, support, maintenance, and vendor reputation. Manage, grow, and scale the devops platform and portal for communication, collaboration, data gathering, and analysis. Utilize azure devops on-prem. Seamlessly integrate and configure and operate a Hybrid Cloud with Microsoft Azure Stack.

Must be at the technical level of proficiency in these areas, plus must be a good presenter of information to technical leaders and executives. Excellent presentation skills and persuasion skills, and you and your team decide the best path or solutions, and try to get buy in from leaders on that path / solution / architecture.

Requirements:

Strengths must include developer operations (DevOps) and well as cloud, hybrid or on-premises. Cloud and On-Prem or Hybrid experience required. Must come from a development / DevOps background, and understand development methodologies and the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC). Must have CI/CD pipeline design and build experience preferrable on Azure DevOps but we will accept CI CD on AWS, Amazon cloud in lieu of lack of Azure experience. We like AWS or Azure certifications. We prefer Azure. Any/all clouds experience helps, i.e. azure, amazon, aws, GCP. We prefer experience on Jenkins, Gitlab continuous integration, Argo continuous integration. Tell us about your cloud / on-prem experience, Hybrid, or On-Prem. Scripting skills with JSON calls, YAML, BASH, python. Any experience with configuration tools or automation tools such as: chef, cookbooks, puppet, ansible. Best practices and tools for security such as network scanning, vulnerability assessments, and encryption, private keys, public keys.

You must have Infrastructure As Code (IaC) experience with IaC tools such as Cloud Formation or Terraform. Knowledge of K8S and docker container creation and orchestration. It would be awesome if you have experience developer portals used by developers. Well, thats very specific, but you see the idea. Bring your best cloud/on-prem/hybrid projects experience and your best IaC examples and your best CI CD pipeline design and creation roles you had, and join a team of dedicated professional ready to catapult your career to a new level, as you lead & architect DevOps, and lay down your very best architecture, and IaC, for the very best SDLC you can muster. Employment Type: Contract or contract to hire

M-F, 40 hours per week, onsite Houston client offices.

Hourly Rate: $85.00 to $100 w-2 employment
