Auburn Community Hospital is a 99 bed, rural hospital located in Cayuga County. Serving a population of over 80,000, we are the largest employer in the county. Our radiology department is looking for their next Ultrasound Technologist. This person will perform diagnostic medical examination of patients using real-time ultrasound imaging and duplex doppler ultrasound using the Philips Epiq.Shift(s):
- Full Time: 3, 12-hour shifts/week, 8:00a-8:30p with occasional weekends and call required.

Broad Function:The position exists in the radiology department and involves responsibility for performance of diagnostic medical examination of patients using real-time ultrasound imaging and duplex doppler ultrasound. The work is performed under general direction of a radiologist with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgement in carrying out technical details of the work. The incumbent does related work as required. Basic computer skills necessary.

Qualifications: - Education: Graduate of a Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology program.
- Experience: 2 Years Preferred.
- Licensure: RDMS credentialed or eligible within 6 months of hire.
- CPR certification required.
Physical:Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time, occasional lifting, carrying and pushing items weighing 50+ lbs. Requires full range of motion for handling and lifting to include manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal ranges. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids on a regular basis. Workload can include stressful situations and irregular workhours.
Major Responsibilities:1. Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and procedures in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by radiologist. Evaluates images for technical and diagnostic quality.2. Maintain current knowledge of ultrasound examination procedures, protocols and human anatomy.3. Maintain current knowledge of ultrasound equipment operation and cleaning, arrange for repairs.4. Follows safe operation and maintenance of equipment, materials and resources to complete duties.5. Instruct and assist patients in regard to ultrasound procedures to ensure cooperation and optimum test results.6. Maintain competency in caring for patients of all age groups, developmental stages and maintain competency as specifically indicated by orientation guidelines for a particular unit.7. Maintains required documentation, records, logs and an adequate level of supplies on hand.8. Maintain complete understanding of radiology management systems and undergo any necessary education on new systems implemented necessary to job duties.9. Cover ultrasound call as necessary.10. Maintain awareness of/comply with hospital and regulatory agency standards, rules, regulations and codes applicable to ultrasound and radiologic services.14. Follows and maintains attendance according to policy.16. Attend and complete required education programs (health streams, department specific mandatory programs and position/performance related topics).17.
