DescriptionJOB SUMMARYPerforms a combination of imaging procedures to include mammography, ultrasound, echo, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and Dexa. Responsible for patient prepping, performing procedures and processing exam for radiologic interpretation. Reports to Radiology Director. Non-Exempt position.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Instructs and prepares patients for roentgenographic, fluoroscopic examinations, and/or ultrasound echo.
- Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure.
- Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
- Works with physician to assess and manage patient pain so as not to interfere with procedure.
- Performs special imaging examinations requiring various special equipment and procedures and records diagnostic data.
- Programs portable or stationary equipment and makes images for a variety of examinations.
- Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel.
- Performs QC checks on equipment and maintains logs, as appropriate.
- Obtains permanent record of internal examination by examination images of organs.
- Transfers all images and retrieves images from PACS as requested.
- Keeps procedure room clean and neat, makes minor equipment adjustments as needed.
- Compiles and maintains quality assurance information for mammography in accordance with ACR, Texas Department of State Health Services, the FDA and the Department of Human Services.
- Practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer's instructions.
- Performs highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed examination under discretion and supervision of Radiology Medical Director.
POSITION REQUIREMENTSMinimum Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Current BLS for healthcare providers' certification required.
- Eligible for MRI, CT, Nuclear Med, Echo, Ultrasound, Mammography, DEXA registry preferred.
Rad: AAS degree in Radiology Technology required.Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and/or CRT Certification required. Current Radiology Texas Medical Board (TMB) License required. Ultrasound: Eligible for ARDMS or ARRT. Registry required within 1 year of hire.Required SkillsMust possess superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service. Must possess high degree of organization and be able to multi-task efficiently and effectively.Advanced computer knowledge required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
