MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
* Valid New Mexico Educational Diagnostician license.
* Valid New Mexico Public Education Certification as required.
* Five years experience in providing services to individuals with disabilities.
(Physical Therapist)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Plans and implements programs of therapy that help students develop to their potential in motor, perceptual and self-help skills and as much as possible, meets individuals needs, interests and abilities.
* Guides the learning process toward the achievement of Individual Educational Program goals.
* Assesses therapeutic progress of students on a regular basis.
* Prescribes effective programs or initiates referrals to appropriate agency personnel and provides progress reports as required.
* Establishes and maintains standards of appropriate student behaviors and disciplines needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
* Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, parents, and staff concerning students' physical therapy program and/or progress.
* Evaluates student's needs for adaptive equipment and facilitates the acquisition of appropriate equipment and instructional materials.

* Provides training and on-going direction to school personnel and parents for carryover of physical therapy programs in the classroom and/or at home.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Follows methods of school social work practice appropriate to identified concerns, including direct services, collaboration/consultation, and program development.
* Provides direct services including School Social Work assessments, crisis intervention, group, and individual social work.

* Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings relating to the educational planning and progress of students in Special Education.
* Establishes and maintains communication with parents regarding student social/emotional and behavioral progress.
* Consults and shares information with teachers, administrators and other school personnel as needed.
* Assists in developing positive behavioral supports and interventions strategies for students.
* Assesses the quality and effectiveness of school social work services and provides documentation, as necessary.
* Complies with the Code of Ethics and Standards for School Social Work Services from the National Association of Social Workers.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Master's degree in Social Work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
* Valid New Mexico State Board of Education license in Social Work 601.
* Valid New Mexico Public Education Certification.
* Valid and active New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners license.
