Dialysis TechnicianPer DiemQueens-Long Island Renal Institute, located on the lobby level of the renowned Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation in New Hyde Park, New York, is seeking Per Diem Hemodialysis Technicians to join our team of professionals.Per Diem opportunities-flexible scheduling available!QLIRI provides state-of-the-art in-center hemodialysis treatment for kidney disease patients. Our experienced interdisciplinary team of nephrologists and renal nurses offer chronic dialysis services in a comfortable and modern setting. Located on the Queens-Nassau boarder, Queens-Long Island Renal Institute has a longstanding reputation for the finest quality of care, state-of-the-art technology and uncompromised dignity.The ideal candidate will be a Certified Hemodialysis Technician, with at least one year of experience on a dialysis unit. All CCHTs must also maintain CPR Certification.KEY TASKS:Rinses, primes and positions all appropriate equipment, attaches all required tubing, connects appropriate dialysate solutions, calibrates and checks alarms, sets monitors and performs a system checkCannulates, initiates, monitors, and terminates dialysis treatments utilizing an established access in accordance with the Dialysis Center's Policies and ProceduresObtains blood samples and other specimens as orderedSpins and packs samplesCleans and disinfects equipment, disposes of disposable supplies as practiced by the facilityMaintains a safe environment for patient and staff by following infection control proceduresObserves and reports symptoms and conditions of the dialysis patient to the RN or Charge NurseMaintains current knowledge of operation procedures and maintenance of new equipmentDemonstrates competence in meeting the established standards of care in the Dialysis UnitWorks as supportive and productive member of patient care team under the supervision of a Registered NursePromotes positive customer relationsMonitors water/dialysate testing to provide safe and efficient dialysis treatment to patientsAssures quality patient care by applying hemodialysis principles in practice integrating nursing implications specific to age, co-morbidities, and individual needsExecutes procedures in using the Bicarbonate systemDocuments hemodialysis treatment appropriately in accordance with standards of practice
