DescriptionPosition SummaryWe are looking to add a motivated, customer service oriented Diesel Mechanic to our Waynesboro, VA team. Essential functions and accountabilities will be:
- Perform mechanic duties adhering to areas of service, quality, safety, and overall effectiveness related to Key Performance Indicators. This includes ownership for downtime and accountability for timely availability of the equipment.
- Adhere to performance and safety standards in all areas of the shop
- Enhance service department and organization`s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
RequirementsRequirements - Knowledge, Skills & Accountabilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of general mechanics, including brakes, drive train, A/C and heat, cooling systems, electrical components, electronics (ECM, Body Controls), steering and suspension, diesel components, fuel systems, exhaust systems, and welding abilities.
- Familiarity with diesel engine repair and maintenance, including OSHA regulations.
- Ability to perform component exchanges/repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must have the technical knowledge of truck equipment required, including transmissions, engines, fuel systems, hydraulics, and electrical system.
- Must exhibit a sense of urgency, strong analytical skills, and great attention to detail.
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment necessary for diagnostic purposes.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Must have own tools.
- 2-3 years previous experience.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to frequently stand, stoop, crawl, bend, reach, and climb.
- Basic computer skills.
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Must be able to maintain all service related documents.
- Valid driver's license required.
