Located on a four-acre campus with a large, wooded park and picnic area in historic Huntingburg, The Waters is a welcoming 95-bed community that features comfortably spacious resident rooms. We have 37 private rooms and an additional 58 semi-private beds. Residents and families alike enjoy our cheerful, sun-filled community areas. When the weather is nice, our beautifully landscaped grounds offer an enjoyable place to interact with family, friends, and residents. The facility also has a large, enclosed courtyard for resident and visitor use. Whether is helping new residents to adjust to this new phase of life, administering medical treatments or performing clinical assessments, our staff members work diligently to support and preserve each person's independence.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Role Responsibilities – Job Knowledge/Duties:
Serves meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance at designated meal times
Sets up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed
Assists in checking diet trays before distribution
Assists in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis
Prepares and delivers snacks, etc., as instructed
Serves food in accordance with established portion control procedures
Distributes and collects menus as necessary
Delivers food carts, trays, etc., to designated areas
Serves food in dining room as instructed
Assists cook in preparing meals
Assists in food preparation for special meals for parties, etc.
Makes only authorized food substitutions
Completes competence in portion control, food temperatures, and tray card procedures
Must understand how to read and execute the diet spreadsheets
Removes food trays from carts, dining rooms, etc., and take to dishwashing area
Performs dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assures that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal
Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures
Cleans work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
Sweeps and mops floors as directed
Carries soiled utensils, etc., to wash area
Washes and cleans utensils as directed
Returns clean utensils to proper storage areas
Carries out garbage and keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment, supplies, etc.
Must be able to use the current Diet Manual to resolve a diet issue in the absence of the Supervisor
Works with the facility's dietitian/Dietary Supervisor as necessary and implement recommended changes as required
Ensures that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies
Ensures that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available Dietary Aide
Assists in inventorying and storing incoming food, supplies, etc., as necessary
Participates in and assists in departmental studies and projects as assigned or that may become necessary
Attends and participates in workshops, seminars, in-service training programs, etc., as directed
Must be proficient in the use of the following equipment and the cleaning of this equipment: Blender, Toaster, Freezers, Oven & Range, Steam table, Rerigerators, Plate Warmer, Coffee Maker, Dishwasher, Garbage Disposal, Can Opener, and a Three Compartment Sink
Other duties as assigned by the Dietary Supervisor

Is aware of and adheres to Resident's Bill of Rights and Confidentiality of Resident Information
Interacts with resident and family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staff in nonjudgmental, supportive and calm manner
Addresses resident and family satisfaction issues immediately by reporting them to the Supervisor in a professional manner
Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as with other departments within the facility to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents
Creates and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department
Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning
Is aware of Resident Abuse Reporting Law
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Must be 16 years of age or older and have a work permit
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when appropriate circumstances arise
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties
