Job Description:
The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.

The Team Leader coordinates department patient documentation daily, functions as cashier or salad prep person as needed and supervises other food services department employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises food services personnel to get meals prepared and serving line set up.
  • Completes and updates patient diet order list in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates department scheduling in event of employee call offs.
  • Ensures menu selections are marked accurately according to diet restrictions.
  • Practices good customer service at all times.
  • Ensures efforts are made to meet patients' needs according to age, chewing abilities, etc.
  • Responsible to make sure menus are marked when food/drug interaction possibilities noted.
  • Consults with Dietitian with regards to special needs of patients, when necessary.
  • Coordinates with other staff in the department to ensure timely delivery of orders.
  • Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.
  • Reports mistakes, near misses, adverse events and quality and safety concerns.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of safety and quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates clear ownership of workplace and patient safety.
  • Maintains cafeteria cash register drawer for appropriate change amounts, counts cash after each meal to tally cafeteria sales and prepares deposit for cafeteria sales money.
  • Protects patient privacy and abides by all HIPAA policies.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Licensure/Certification: ServSafe certification preferred.

Experience: 6 months previous food service experience required. Customer service or hospital experience preferred. Knowledge of food service equipment and sanitation standards preferred. Ability to adapt to a changing work environment. High level of customer service skills required. Good communication skills (Written and Verbal) required.

Physical Requirements: Frequent standing and walking. May frequently lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to bend, stoop, and reach.
