Description:
Norma Kamali s archive department is looking for a temporary, full-time archivist to
oversee day-to-day operations of the digital archive and the digital asset management
software that it runs on. The approximately 5-month position will begin sometime in late
June/early July. A minimum of five years experience in archives and a background and/or
knowledge of the fashion industry are required as the role involves significant cataloging
using apparel terminology.
Responsibilities:
Ingesting, organizing, and cataloging assets in the digital archive.
Working with the graphics department to receive creative assets for current and past
seasons.
Updating and maintaining the archive s file name conventions and controlled metadata
fields.
Supporting special projects, through research, specialized cataloging, and delivery of
archive assets.
Working with the PR department to maintain up-to-date press assets in the archive.
Scanning, uploading, and cataloging a variety of original/analog brand ephemera.
Occasional retrieval/return of physical archive materials from on-site storage.
Requirements:
At least five years experience working in archives, preferably with a digital component.
Expertise in fashion and apparel terminology.
Proficiency in using digital asset management and/or collection management software.
Nice to have:
Experience working with and scanning analog media, including best practices for handling
archival objects.
Ability to perform basic tasks in Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, and Illustrator.
Capability functioning as an administrator of a digital asset management or collection
management software.
