Position Summary As a Digital Literacy Assistant, staff has primary responsibility to support individuals in developing the necessary skills to effectively navigate and utilize digital technologies. Staff will play a vital role in bridging the digital divide by providing guidance, training, and resources to help individuals become proficient in digital literacy. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, communication skills, and a passion for empowering others through technology. Staff will work closely with diverse groups, including students, seniors, professionals, and community members, to provide guidance and resources to enhance their digital literacy. Education & Certification Requirements
- 2 years of related field experience with a non-profit or community partnership organization.
- A bachelor's degree in liberal arts or communication preferred.
Experience & Training Requirements
- Bilingual - fluent in English/Spanish
- A strong understanding of digital literacy services and apps.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences.
- Experience in teaching, training, or instructional design preferred.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others succeed in the digital world.
- Must be a self-starter and a team player.
- Have the ability to provide digital coaching and training services in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Salesforce, PowerPoint.
Desired Outcomes
- Track and provide one-on-one training and coaching to a caseload of 30-50 parents or seniors every 6 months.
- Update digital literacy service plans every 3 months especially any technology needs and recommendations based on data once each update is completed.
- Track and increase digital literacy skills of participants attending digital literacy education workshops.
- Respond to all referrals made for dl services to the Family Hub within 48-hours of receipt.
- Deliver education workshops during parent meetings and ADS at least 4 times a year.
Essential Job Requirements & Duties Training and Workshops: Conduct training sessions and workshops on various digital topics such as basic computer skills, internet navigation, email management, social media usage, digital security, and software applications. One-on-One Assistance: Provide personalized assistance to individuals who require additional support in understanding digital tools and technologies. Offer guidance on troubleshooting technical issues and adapting to new digital platforms. Resource Development: Develop and curate educational materials, tutorials, and resources to support digital literacy initiatives. Create user-friendly guides, instructional videos, and online modules to facilitate self-paced learning. Community Engagement: Collaborate with local organizations, educational institutions, libraries, and community centers to promote digital literacy initiatives. Participate in community events, outreach programs, and awareness campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of digital skills. Assessment and Evaluation: Assess the digital literacy needs of individuals and groups through surveys, interviews, and skill assessments. Track progress and evaluate the effectiveness of digital literacy programs to identify areas for improvement. Technology Integration: Stay updated on emerging digital trends, tools, and platforms. Assist in integrating technology into educational curricula and organizational processes to enhance digital literacy outcomes. Support and Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing support to individuals in utilizing digital tools effectively. Address questions, concerns, and technical challenges promptly to ensure a positive learning experience.
