As a member of the team, you will create multimedia and digital content that uplifts the Democratic Caucus, its members, and their priorities. The Digital Media Designer will maintain and build upon the caucus brand, create engaging media and work collaboratively with other designers, videographers, social media gurus, writers and web developers to create an effective digital experience through outreach campaigns. As a Digital Media Designer, you'll create content that shares the stories of Michigan residents from every corner of the state. You will also spearhead creative content to highlight our vision to create a positive impact on Michiganders' lives, all while promoting the shared values and priorities of the Michigan House Democrats. You'll have the opportunity to:Create outreach campaigns across multiple channels: websites, social media, email campaigns, infographics, video and emerging technologies.Work with our web team to create an accessible UX experience.Continue to build on and be innovative with House Democratic Caucus branding.Work in conjunction with our Creative Team to set standards for the visual identity of all digital outreach, including e-news and social media graphics.Join a highly collaborative and supportive communications team.Develop and execute proactive, innovative social media communications to support mission-critical outcomes and create high-profile communications, strategic programs and creative assets.Establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders to effectively engage, collaborate and coordinate with multifunctional leads in a matrix organization.Maintain an organized file archive.This hybrid position requires 3 days a week in Lansing, Michigan, reports to the Communications Director and provides the opportunity to join an innovative team that pushes the envelope at every turn.OfficeDemocratic CentralCaucusDemocratRequired Education and ExperienceMinimum QualificationsMinimum of three to five years of digital media design experience with direct ability to produce video, graphic, social and interactive content.Must be confident using Adobe Creative Suite.Must be a team player that is able to multi-task and doesn't get overwhelmed by large volumes or complex campaigns.Quick to learn and a strong sense of curiosity.Exceptional communication (writing, verbal, nonverbal, graphic, digital and social) capabilities with excellent interpersonal, presentation, public speaking, negotiation, advocacy and persuasion skills.An ability to convert trending styles and opportunities into communication opportunities.Strong communications skills and knowledge of the digital landscape and an ability to translate.Preferred Requirements:Effective at creating a welcoming UX experience.Experience working with WordPress.Experience creating accessible content.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in graphic design, digital media, marketing or another related field.Strong understanding of video, social media, including influencer marketing and the intersection with traditional media and public opinion.Prior political, public affairs or campaign experience.*Please include a sample of your work with your resume and cover letter.Additional Requirements and InformationBenefits and Compensation:This position is mid-level and will be a full-time salary (40 hours/week). Full-time salaried mid-level: $57,000 to $62,500 per year. In addition, the Michigan House of Representatives provides comprehensive benefits, with full-time salaried benefits which include but are not limited to:Insurance — House employees receive medical, dental and vision insurance.
