JOB DESCRIPTION:
At Traditions, we celebrate our Nation's early history by making the most of our Farm to Table program. With this, we supply our restaurant with fresh, seasonal ingredients, many of which are harvested from the ninety acres of gardens in the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area. This practice is reminiscent of tavern kitchens, which depended on local farms and gardens to provide the heirloom fruits and vegetables included in traditional colonial fare. At Traditions, our Chefs continue the timeless custom of Farm to Table by sourcing local foods from family farmers, cheese makers, beekeepers and fishermen in our neighborhood.
Greet guests hospitably and serve them efficiently providing proper food and beverage service.
Learn and describe menu items to guests including chef specials.
Suggest wine and other beverages.
Responsible for standard table set-up procedures and cleanliness of the dining room.
Other duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age due to A.B.C. 4.1-307
1 - 2 years server experience in a full service restaurant.
Excellent public contact skills to include tact, courtesy and patience.
Ability to (1) meet the standards listed below; (2) satisfy customers under all circumstances; (3) communicate effectively; (4) read and write, perform basic mathematical computations and memorize the food and beverages offered; (5) learn and communicate relevant dining information to guests;
Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a current Williamsburg James City County food handler's card and TIPS certification; applicants with an active card and certification should be prepared to present both during the interview process.
Physical requirements include but are not limited to: (1) bending, lifting, stooping; (2) carrying trays weighing up to 50 pounds; (3) extensive use of stairs.
NOTE: In accordance with Virginia A.B.C. 4.1-225 Colonial Williamsburg prohibits employment of anyone in an alcohol serving position who has been convicted of a felony, any crime involving moral turpitude (lying, cheating, or stealing), or a drug-related offense within the past five (5) years.
