Position Summary:The Dining Room Server provides courteous table services of meals to residents, visitors and guests in the dining rooms. This position is responsible for the presentation and upkeep of the dining rooms while ensuring a pleasant experience for all attendants. Core Responsibilities
  • Takes resident, guest and visitor orders for meals and/or expedites delivery of menu and food to and from the kitchen in a friendly, courteous and timely manner.
  • Opens dining rooms and completes before service jobs per procedures and assures stations are neat and clean prior to service.
  • Performs after service jobs to include bussing and resetting tables, cleaning tables, bases and chairs, sorting service ware, folding napkins, cleaning and straightening the stations, sweeping and vacuuming floors.
  • Participates in pre-service review to ensure understanding of menu items, methods of preparation, and style of service. Communicates information effectively to residents, guests and visitors.
  • Handles and serves food in manner that is safe and sanitary according to regulations and company procedures. Serves meals efficiently and at the appropriate temperature.
  • Tends to resident, guest, and visitor needs and requests in a timely, courteous and appropriate manner.
  • Follows food safety and sanitation regulations to include safe food service, maintenance of a clean and sanitary environment and strict personal hygiene.
  • Performs duties in a safe manner, uses equipment and chemicals as directed, and adheres to all safety policies and guidelines.
  • Performs server duties in the health care dining areas, in the Coffee Shop or for catered events, as needed
  • While hosting, performs administrative tasks including answering telephones, taking voicemails, scheduling reservations, operating POS systems, etc.
  • While hosting, directs the duties of the Servers and ensures their assignments are completed for the efficient operation of the dining rooms.
  • While hosting, greets directs and assists residents, visitors and guests. Circulates through the dining areas during meals to ensure all parties have a pleasant dining experience and handle concerns.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • Must be able to perform simple mathematics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions.
  • Must possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must reflect a high degree of respect, sensitivity, patience and tolerance.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Walks, bends, lifts, stoops and stands the majority of the shift.
  • Work is performed primarily in the main kitchen and dining areas. Work may be performed in the health care dining areas or catering venues.
  • Work involves retrieval of items from various storage locations, refrigeration and freezer units.
  • Work areas may have a wide range of temperature variations.
  • Duties involve lifting, bending, stooping, or stretching in order to serve food, maintain work area, or retrieve items from storage.
License and Regulatory Requirements
  • Must obtain all required annual industry related / regulatory immunizations (including completion of the annual TB Assessment) and provide documentation of same.
  • Must complete mandatory training as required.
