Also, to insure that the proper department policy and procedures are being followed as it relates to the operations of the dining rooms, meeting rooms and café areas. Please review them and ask your supervisor if you have any questioLeadership:Models the mission statement so that it is clearly understood and emulated by all levels of staff.Represents the organization in a professional manner.Fosters cooperation within the department as well as between departments.Demonstrates appropriate supervisory/leadership skills.Demonstrates problem solving skills and can resolve issues with residents, families, and staff in a professional manner.Resolves conflict with minimal disruption to department operations.Demonstrates ability to creatively resolve department obstacles.Assist with implementing organizational change with minimal disruption to departmental operations.Demonstrates sound judgment when making decisions.Provides a role model for customer service.Motivates staff by creating an atmosphere conducive to learning and achieving excellence.Acts as a role model and resource for all team members to work safely and effectively.Delegates responsibilities to accomplish all tasks in the most cost efficient and effective manner.Completes annual compliance training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the code of conduct in the performance of their duties.Abides by White Horse Village's code of conduct in the performance of their duties.Administrative Functions:Assist Director with developing, implementing and maintaining an annual review of policies and procedures for the day-to-day operations of the dining rooms and café.Provides input to policies that are community wide.Keeps department appearance in presentable manner at all times.Completes all appropriate reports and paperwork as required.Assist Director with ensuring department is in regulatory compliance.Ensure adherence to infection control policies.Administrative Functions (cont'd.:Volunteers to serve on committees and/or participates when designatedHuman Resources:Assists the director with ensuring the departmental staff receives annual Tb testing.Assist with providing effective staffing schedules and assignments for the department.Assist the director to assure that staff attends all mandatory in-services.Completes performance appraisals at 90 days for new staff and at least annually thereafter.Assists director with hiring, orientating and training staff to perform appropriate duties.Effectively applies work rules to all staff and corrects behavior and actions when necessary.Assist director in providing a departmental environment where all safety practices are maintained. Follows new hire procedures to secure high quality staff i.e., obtain references, complete paperwork and submit required documents as mandated by regulatory bodiesCommunications:Maintains positive communications within the department.Facilitates positive communications inter-departmentally.Produces written communication that is clear and concise.Maintain confidentiality of resident and White Horse Village business issues.Budget:Assist director in the development of an accurate annual budget for department.Monitors spending to ensure conformance with budget projections.Orders supplies and maintains adequate inventory for proper operation of the department.Allocates resources to implement departmental activities, as appropriate.Budget (cont'd.:Provides input to ordering and maintaining all capital equipment.Education:Attends seminars and in-services to maintain and increase professional skills.Assist with providing on-going learning opportunities for staff.Assist director with ensuring department is compliant with mandatory in-services.Department Specific Job Functions:Provides leadership and management of the dining rooms which promotes good or positive employee morale and effective delivery of services.Keeps all the records of the reservations and special resident requests for the dining rooms.Post daily and weekly menus on bulletin boards.Know and follow Fire and Disaster plans.Maintain a keen and constant alertness to the entire dining room environment.Circulate in dining rooms during meal period to field resident/guest comments about food and service.Maintain adequate inventory levels of linen, uniforms, china, silverware and tabletop as per budget allowance.Assure that work tables, buffet equipment, steam tables, ice cream freezers, refrigerators, and all other equipment related to the dining rooms and café are cleaned and sanitized.Assure that soiled linens are placed in the appropriate containers and taken to the laundry at the end of the meal period.Assure that food is served in the dining room as instructed.Assure that all soiled dishes, utensils, glassware and equipment are carried to wash area.Supervision Responsibilities:Responsible for the hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of all the dining room and café servers.Supervision Responsibilities (cont'd.:Ensures that the main dining room provides the optimum dining service to residents and guests which promotes their use and enjoyment of the facility.Assure servers attend in-service training as required or needed.Supervise the café and dining room service coordinators.Assign stations and cleaning assignments for all dining room and café servers. Communicate with management team the comment concerning a resident's meal acceptance.Maintain a positive attitude towards residents, supervisors and co-workers.Responsible for all the set-ups and break downs of all the special functions in the community.Submits maintenance work orders needed to ensure the proper operations of the equipment in the dining rooms and café area.Responsible for the overall appearance and condition of the dining areas. (Sanitation, appearance, deco, etc...)See that the proper meal counts and guests charges are being recorded in the dining areas.Check to see that the dining rooms and café staff are following the pre-established standards/guidelines for service.Follow established staffing pattern in café and dining room so that more staff are not being scheduled than needed to operate these areas.Record all entries into the Managers' log.Participate and offer solutions to issues that come up in the managers' and food advisory meetings.Assure that a sufficient number of servers are assigned for special functions, the café and dining rooms.Participate in and assist in departmental studies and projects as assigned or that may become necessary.Discipline/counsel servers as necessary.Supervision Responsibilities cont'd.:Make periodic rounds to check equipment and to ensure that all equipment is available and working properly.Assure that all servers receive the proper service training and that is also ongoing.Promote safety and sanitation.Greet and seat residents and guests in a cordial and courteous manner.Enforce and assure adherence to the Standards of a Dining Room Server. Assist in the correction of any resident/guest dissatisfaction.
