Two (2) part-time (20-25 hours/week) opportunities as Direct Care Staff available for graveyard shifts. Based in our Short-Term Residential Therapeutic group home located in Modesto, CA . Our Direct Care Staff make a big contribution to our daily efforts and are extremely hands on. Direct Care Staff will provide nurturing and structure to a child in need.

Shift: The shifts will be schedule between 10:00pm-8:00am. Graveyard shift employees will receive a shift differential in their hourly pay, in addition to their base rate.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and experience in care and education of children.
  • Must be at least 22 years old.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • A valid California driver's license with less than two minor moving violations is required of staff who have driving duties to meet the requirements of their position and be approved by the agency's insurance company.
  • Essential Job Functions:

  • Physical capability to restrain children, lift over 20 pounds, and engage in physical activity including various sports, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, reaching, etc.
  • Develop effective and meaningful relationships with children.
  • Learn and apply techniques of childcare and treatment.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with staff and administration.
  • Use personal skills and interests to facilitate group and individual programs.
  • Know and understand needs of children and/or disturbed children and group interaction of children.
  • Be open and flexible to change.
  • Patience, tact, consistency, self-awareness, directness, and warmth are other essential job functions necessary for an effective Direct Care Staff.
  • Sound personal qualifications (i.e., maturity, stability, high moral standards, and sound mental health and physical ability to perform job duties).
  • Responsibilities:

  • Set limits and appropriate consequences for the child and/or group.
  • Facilitate individual and group controls.
  • Be familiar with philosophy, methodology, and procedures of the treatment program and treatment-oriented functions as directed by senior or clinical staff if applicable.
  • Carry out individualized plans and work toward objectives agreed upon by clinical staff and/or placement worker where applicable.
  • Assist in resolving group and/or individual conflicts.
  • Assist in school and/or learning programs.
  • Safeguard the dignity of each child and protect the rights and the individuality of each child so as to enhance his/her self-respect.
  • Attend all in-service training programs.
  • Utilize recreation as the therapeutic aid.
  • Observe behavior, interactions, and individual needs of each child and report these to appropriate staff through written records.
  • Be familiar with and utilize properly agency forms, ledgers, and logs in accordance with governing procedures.
  • Transport children in agency transportation to arranged outings.
  • Provide daily supervision of each child's current health needs and record daily health status of each child.
  • Follow all state and other applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Responsible for preventing and controlling infection.
  • Responsible for maintaining a culture of quality and safety.
  • Effectively use de-escalation skills and techniques for crisis prevention
  • Properly administer the C-SSRS to help prevent suicide.
  • Effectively use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques for crisis prevention and/or
  • Properly administer medication for the therapeutic treatment of clients
  • Effectively use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques for crisis prevention and/or intervention
  • Properly administer medication for the therapeutic treatment of clients.
