The Role:

We are looking for our next Direct Purchasing Manager within our Industrial Purchasing Americas team. The Industrial Purchasing Manager will lead the implementation of procurement strategies for direct categories such as chemicals and packaging while ensuring cost competitiveness, quality compliance, and risk mitigation. This role will also collaborate closely with U.S. and Canada Operations, Engineering, Finance, and the global Category Management organization to meet operational and strategic objectives.

This position hybrid (3 days in office per week) after you complete your training within the first 3-6 months, and is located in Geneva, IL.

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $116,850-$158,200. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

• Serve as the purchasing expert for industrial direct categories, including chemicals and packaging.
• Develop and deploy procurement strategies to improve price competitiveness, quality compliance, and risk management.
• Lead efforts to qualify and manage suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and operational efficiency.
• Supervise department personnel, fostering a culture of excellence through training and development.
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, contractors, and trade professionals to negotiate favorable terms.
• Monitor pricing trends, oversee contract coverage, and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to achieve purchasing objectives.
• Collaborate across teams in the U.S. and Canada to enhance cross-border procurement operations.
• Implement group-level policies, frameworks, and global agreements within the regional scope.
• Manage a multi-million-dollar purchasing budget and drive cost-saving initiatives.
• Participate in or lead cross-functional teams for capital projects and operational improvements.

What You'll Need:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain or business management.

Experience:

• 3-5 years of purchasing experience in the chemical or wet milling industry.

• Demonstrated success in managing multi-million-dollar budgets and supervising teams.
• Knowledge of legal terminology and language related to supplier agreements.
• Proficiency in purchasing processes, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.
• Ability to mitigate risks and build effective vendor relationships.

Business Travel:

• Travel requirements: up to 20-30% for vendor meetings, site visits, and team collaboration.
