Job Description:
Seeking all upbeat Direct Support Personnel!! We have a client looking to add 20+ DSP's to their organization!! The Direct Support Personnel (DSP) assists individuals withintellectual disabilities or mental health challenges with growth anddevelopment of interpersonal skills and Activities of Daily Living in the home,community or residential setting. TheDirect Support Personnel works directly with the resident and provides supportsfor activities of daily living and adaptive skills. The Direct Support Personnel should followthe guidance of the resident/ patients Individual Service Plan. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides training/assistance to assigned individuals withInterpersonal skills and activities of daily living in accordance with theoutcomes and goals in the individual's support plan and under the directsupervision of the Team Leader, Program Coordinator, or Program Director
  • Reports any changes in status to Team Leader, ProgramCoordinator, or Program Director
  • Documents care accurately per company policies andprocedures and turns documentation in on a timely basis. Adheres to client and Amergis policy andprocedures at all times
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team conferences andIn-services as requested
  • Provides therapeutic support in daily activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
  • Accompanies resident/s to schedule activities both insideand out of the facility/home
  • Participates in contributing appropriate revisions ofindividual services plans as requested by client, team leader or programcoordinator
  • Assists with admissions, discharges and transferring ofresidents
  • Assists residents with routine household chores and otherADLS to support independence
  • Assists with training new staff if applicable
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health Certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks
General Comments
  • Position: Direct Support Professional
  • Openings: 20 openings:
    • 8am-4pm - 2 full-time openings
    • 12am-8am - 3 full-time openings
    • 4pm-12am - 4 full-time openings
      • 1 FT 4p-12a will be one week on and one week off - Monday-Sunday with doubles on the weekends 8a-4p & 4p-12a.
    • 12 additional full-time openings for flexible candidates (32hrs on weekend and 1 shift during the week as an example).
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday with E/O weekend - weekend positions are Friday-Sunday.
  • Part-time employees have the opportunity to work full-time and even overtime however, they must be comfortable with weekend doubles as well as floating to other houses. Weekend doubles would vary but would range from 8a-4p & 4p-12a OR 4p-12a & 12a-8a.
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Time off requests must be provided on profile cover and submission notes.
  • Client also accepting PRN submissions for when people call out.
  • Additional Information:
    • General Information: DSP'S will work at 1 of the 12 group homes under Kent Center. They will be stationed at 1 specific group home and will have a set schedule throughout the duration of their contract. They will provide support to people in completing their day-to-day personal needs. cooking healthy meals, accessing medical care, employment support and social activities.
    • DSP's must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • There are 2-4 individuals per group home. 11 group homes are within 10 minutes of Kent Center and the last one is 20-30 minutes away.
    • Responsibilities: You will be working with individuals with developmental & intellectual disabilities in their day-to-day personal needs.
    • Required Experience: 6 months minimum in a similar role. Candidates with prior group home experience as well prior experience with passing out meds highly preferred.
    • Required Skills: Facility requires candidates to be trained on DDA & MANDT but can provide trainings on-site if needed.
    • Facility provides the following trainings on-site:
    • DDA: Developmental Disabilities Administration
    • MANDT: Behavioral Crisis Interaction Training
    • Specific licensure and certifications/registrations required:CPR required, CMT preferred but not required.
    • EMR: iCareManager - facility willing to provide training if needed
    • Orientation/First Day: 1 st day they will work with HR in getting them into their system followed by a shadow day. HR will coordinate getting them setup with virtual DDA training as well as MANDT training. Their first day will start on a Tuesday but candidates can start on Weds-Friday as well.
