About Whitten Regional Center

Whitten Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Clinton, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmentaldisabilities.

Job Responsibilities

Under the limited supervision of the Direct Support Manager, is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Direct Support Professional I and II's.

1. Responsible for the supervisory functions of the Direct Support Professional I's and II's.

2. Ensures that all documentation required for the consumers Individual Support Plan have been completed and monitors the safety and care of consumers.

3. Ensures Active Treatment for consumers in assigned buildings is implemented by staff. This entails monitorship programs developed by the ID Team. Monitors completion of behavior data sheets, ISP training programs, and GER (General Event Reports) to ensure all required documentation is entered into THERAP. Monitors Day Programs monthly (i.e., on/off campus).

4. Responsible for reporting significant events and suspected abuse immediately per SCDDSN policy and procedures.

Performs additional duties as assigned.

This position is eligible for up to $3.50/hour shift differential for applicable shifts! Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates will be distributed after one, six, and twelve months of successful continuous Full-Time employment.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

The employee must possess administrative abilities and general knowledge of intellectual disabilities. Employee will receive daily supervision and will be evaluated on an on-going basis. Must have basic computer skills to include the use of Therap and SCEIS Central for time and leave purposes (Electronic Documentation System). Must possess knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and basic safety practices. Must possess a valid SC Driver's License.

Physical abilities include lifting, pushing, standing, stooping, kneeling, and running. Must be able to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile. Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Required to work in indoor and outdoor environments for certain periods of time.

Immunization: If this position requires the applicant to work directly with DDSN consumers, a (2) step PPD testing or QuantiFERON TB Gold testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
