Job Description:
SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
  • Umpqua Homes, Inc. (UHI) is a nonprofit organization that strives to employ caring individuals who provide person centered growth and support within the home and community. This position must show an understanding of the basic principles of dignity and respect for all people. You may assist people with food preparation, grocery shopping, personal health and hygiene needs, personal and household shopping, personal funds management and all required documentation. This position must be ethical, patient, reliable, communicative, compassionate, able to work independently, and adaptable.
WORK SCHEDULE:
  • . The Direct Support Professional/ Daily Support Activities Professional/ Community Living Support Professional will be expected to be available to work weekends, nights and holidays as the site schedule dictates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
  • Promote and implement UHI's mission in the lives of those we support
  • Provide a stable living environment by promoting and attending to the individual's right to respect and dignity, individual choice and input, and health and safety needs at all times.
  • Dependable, reliable and regular work attendance
  • Take pride in meeting deadlines and the quality of work they produce
  • Complete all duties related to being a Mandatory Abuse Reporter
  • Responding to emergency and/or crisis situations (may require physical intervention)
  • Medication administration as needed and without error
  • Complete and maintain all certifications as required by the position, UHI and other governing agencies
    • Must maintain a CPR and First Aid Certification, every 2 years
    • Must maintain OIS Certification, every 2 years
    • Must complete Core Competencies as dictated by the state of Oregon
    • Complete a minimum of twelve (12) hours each biennium of ongoing education relevant to the position
  • Provide and encourage people to engage within the community through outings and planned activities
    • To research new ideas for programs and activities, taking into consideration individuals' suggestions
    • Assists with transporting and/or escorting people to, from and within the program
      • Operate vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all traffic and safety regulations
      • Provide assistance to the people we support while they enter and exit the vehicle
      • Safely secure those in wheelchairs, with the use of tie-downs.
  • Other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Able to schedule and coordinate multiple projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Well organized and attentive to detail
  • Cooperative and willing to learn
  • Able to operate all related computer applications and business machines
  • Capacity to interpret various instructions
  • Ability to perform basic math skills
  • Capability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals and other related writings
  • Aptitude to prepare written reports using proper punctuation, spelling and grammar
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 18 years' old
  • Possess a valid ODL with an acceptable driving record
  • Be able to regularly push, pull and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. (some locations require more)
  • Pass a State/Federal criminal history check (fingerprints may be required)
  • Willing to submit to a pre-employment drug screening for federally illegal substances.
COMPENSATION
  • Wages starting at $18.00. Wage range is currently $18.00-22.50
  • Vacation Leave, Sick Leave, Oregon Saves & Smart Dollar
  • Medical available for additional cost (must work 30 or more hours per week)
  • Dental, Vision, AD & D all available for additional cost (must work 20 or more hours per week)
