The Direct Care Staff is responsible for providing high-quality care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a group home setting. This role includes assisting with daily living activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents, and fostering a supportive and respectful environment.Key Responsibilities:
  • Personal Care: Assist residents with personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and other daily living activities as needed.
  • Medication Management: Administer medications as prescribed, following all safety protocols and maintaining accurate records.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement individualized behavior support plans and provide positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors.
  • Health Monitoring: Monitor and document residents' physical and emotional health, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervisor or healthcare provider.
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, accommodating dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Activity Facilitation: Plan and engage residents in recreational and social activities that promote skill development and community integration.
  • Safety and Security: Ensure a safe and secure environment by following established protocols, conducting regular safety checks, and addressing any potential hazards.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with residents, their families, and other team members to ensure consistent care and support.
  • Documentation: Complete and maintain accurate records related to resident care, incidents, and progress notes.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to handle challenging behaviors with patience and empathy.
    • Basic knowledge of medical and safety procedures.
    • Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping.
  • Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification preferred; may be required upon hire.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and assist residents as needed, and to perform physical tasks associated with daily care routines.
Working Conditions:
  • This position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • The role involves physical activity, including lifting and transferring residents.
Adherence to all health and safety guidelines is essential. Qualifications
  • Graduated from an accredited Home Health Aide program
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year prior professional experience
  • Driver's license required
  • CPR certification required
