Part time 24 hours per week or less Non-Exempt Brookfield, Danbury, New Milford, Ridgefield, Pay Rate: Salary Range: $17.25-$18.50 per hour - Commensurate with Experience Position is open until filled / Anticipated start date is immediate Job Description: To assist individuals who meet eligibility criteria set by The Department of Developmental Services succeed in the Day and/or In Home Supports Program. The Direct Support Professional reports to the Program Manager and/or the Program Coordinator Major Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities in various home, recreational and vocational settings
- Maintain and submit timely and accurate written documentation including, but not limited to individual progress, behavioral data, and administrative documentation in electronic databases
- Participate in recreational activities and outings with individuals
- Assist individuals with daily chores and activities of daily living
- Participate in all routine residence maintenance as is appropriate within normal context of home ownership
- Provide financial, life skills, and Activities of Daily Life education
- Ability to obtain and maintain all company provided trainings and certifications (DDS/CPR/First Aid)
- Accompany and transport individuals to and from medical appointments
- Adhere to all agency policies
- Maintain confidentiality
- Some lifting may be required
- Other duties as may be assigned
- Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of related state and federal regulations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform a physical restraint.
- Some physical activities including, but not limited to lifting, pushing, pulling and alternate sit/stand
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field preferred.
- Valid CT driver's license and auto insurance.
- Demonstrate leaderships skills including effective problem solving, planning and organizing.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Requires pushing pulling
- Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodations
