Bridge of Promise enriches the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities by providing recreational, educational, and social programs. The Direct Support Staff implements these programs, working directly with Bridge of Promise participants and supporting their needs while they participate in program activities. Direct Support Staff will be responsible for directly assisting between 2 and 3 participants each day.

Job DescriptionThe Direct Support Staff works as an active team member by providing support to participants with development disabilities in program activities and assisting with activities of daily living.

Responsibilities include:

  • Actively engage and fully participate with participants in all activities, remaining patient and positive while helping participants.
  • Provide direct care to participants, including mobility assistance, feeding, and diapering.
  • Utilize behavior management skills to help participants effectively engage in program activities.
  • Prepare members for community outings, including collecting all personal items.
  • Assist with transporting and escorting program participants to, from, and within the program and on external trips in the community. Includes strapping wheelchairs in, buckling seat belts, and safely using the mobility lift. May include driving the Bridge of Promise mini-bus (training provided).
  • Under the direction of the Program Manager, develop and lead program activities. Assist with activity development as needed.
  • Perform light cleaning duties throughout the day and ensure program location is clean and sanitized at the end of the day. Keep program supplies organized and clean.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Successfully pass a Washington State and Federal Background Check.
  • CPR and First Aid (on-the-job training available)
  • Legibly write, read, and communicate in English
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Enjoys working with adults with developmental disabilities

Physical Environment and Working Conditions

  • Requires mobility
  • Working with ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals in various settings
  • Assist some individuals with daily living tasks (feeding, bathroom duties, etc.)
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lb

Hours

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday - 8:45 am-3:15 pm

Health insurance and 401K available for employees working 20+ hours per week.
