The University of Texas Permian Basin welcomes applications for the position of Director of Academic AdvisingSalary Range$80,000.00 depending on qualificationsEssential FunctionsThe director provides vision and leadership to Academic Advising, which includes all aspects of of the student-centered advising from the first time enrollment to degree attainment. The Director is responsible for the development, coordination, facilitation, and integration of outcome driven efforts in academic advising that support student success (e.g., retention, persistence, thriving and graduation).1. Provides leadership and supervision for the academic Advising Office Staff.2. Develops a shared plan and measurable productivity standards, goals and outcomes for the office, and support for students.3. Directs, coordinates, and manages all daily operations of the Academic Advising operation by designing, implementing, and updating policies and procedures for advising.4. Stays current on University policies and procedures that relate to academic advising, including curriculum information.5. Develops and monitors programs that are focused on academic progress, retention, and success.6. Creates and manages budget.7. Maintains academic advising proficiency by advising an appropriate caseload each semester.8. Advises and provides academic outreach to students individually and in groups.9. Compiles and presents reports, proposals and recommendations relating to advising.10. Designs and implements effective and ongoing training programs for advisors.11. Provides updated information regarding students' academic performance to academic advisors, coaches and Academic Support Services.12. Collects and reviews student data using various reporting systems to identify trends and evaluate enrollment levels, retention rates, and learning outcomes.13. Assess student academic progress and graduation success rate.Required Qualifications1. Master's degree2. Five (5) years experience in academic advising in a college or university setting.3. Experience in program planning and supervision required.Preferred Qualifications1. Doctoral degree2. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.Standard Working Conditions1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.6.
