We are seeking a highly skilled and imaginative Art Director with a focus on brand and packaging design to transform the Marketing Team into a world-class creative team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for visual storytelling and a keen eye for detail, with a proven track record of designing compelling creative that enhances brand identity and appeals to consumers. As an Art Director, you will lead brainstorming sessions, design development, and executing and implementing all brand materials and communications to support the overall brand strategy through to production, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all creative meets our brand standards and marketing objectives.

  • Concept Development: Lead the creative process for design, from initial concept development through final production, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and market trends.
  • Design Leadership: Direct and inspire a team of designers and production artists, providing clear guidance and constructive feedback to ensure high-quality, innovative creative that supports the brand strategy.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure that creative reflects Zevia's brand identity and resonates with target audiences, maintaining consistency across all print and digital touchpoints.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, product development, and production teams to gather insights, understand product requirements, and deliver creative solutions that meet both aesthetic and functional needs.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor creative, and consumer preferences to drive creative decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, managing timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and approve final creative, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications before production.
  • Vendor Coordination: Liaise with external vendors and print suppliers to ensure the successful execution of packaging designs, including managing print proofs and production samples.

  • Possesses a robust aesthetic sense.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail;
  • Strong presentation skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationales to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Able to work collaboratively.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in graphic design or another related field.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of managerial experience overseeing graphic designers, production artists, and outside vendors.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years in a Senior Graphic Design/Marketing Communication role with a focus on packaging design, preferably within a consumer goods or retail environment.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of packaging design projects, demonstrating creativity, technical skills, and a deep understanding of design principles.
  • Experience in print production, digital and point-of-sale.
  • Proficient in all design-related programs. Intimate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office 365 programs.
  • Experience working with Adobe After Effects.
  • Experience working with Figma

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not currently have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
