Job Description:
Compensation: Renaissance offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, recognition, and opportunities for professional growth. The salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $110,000 based on the depth of relevant experience. An annual bonus may be given based on the candidate's individual performance. POSITION SUMMARY: The Director, Business Development will primarily serve clients in the NY Metro Region of New York City, Long Island, Mid-Hudson Valley, and New Jersey. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director of Business Development is responsible for generating new small business opportunities, creating and nurturing a network of referral partners, and building a strong small business lending pipeline. Lead a team of business advisors who build relationships with small businesses, counsel small businesses, loan origination, and monitor the performance of their small business loans. Director, Business Development will mentor their Business Advisory team on client relationship management and partnership development and management. RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership:
  • Lead the Business Advisory teams on client relationship management and maintain stronger partnership relationships
  • Assist the Team Leaders with developing new partnerships to nurture and maintain
  • Lead the Business Advisors to develop and maintain organization's existing small business relationships
  • Allocate small business referrals among the team leaders to follow up and provide counseling.
  • Ensure that the Business Advisory team operates consistently with internal policies and procedures, organizational mission, strategic plan, and operating plan
  • Weekly training and call reviews with each team
  • Managing lead conversion and goals with each team
  • Lead the team of Business Advisors to meet organizational goals.
  • Ensure the teams are meeting their goals and provide guidance if their goals are not met.
  • Coach and motivate the teams
  • Attract and retain a diverse team of Business Advisors
  • Appreciate, reward, and elevate great performance, in accordance with company values
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure seamless implementation of organization initiatives and ensure processes and procedures are met to achieve organizational goals
  • Identify new community needs and develop new programs that will impact the community
Business Development:
  • Develop and maintain partnerships and relationships with small business owners, business associations, and community partners through participating in community events and outreach, especially in predominantly immigrant communities.
  • Generates new small business leads to increase lending pipeline.
  • Attend outreach meetings and conferences representing the organization and educating the community about Renaissance's products and services.
  • Conduct site visits to client business locations.
  • Provide counseling to small businesses and help them access capital.
  • Organize and lead workshops for small business owners, as needed.
  • Maintain close client contact to ensure satisfaction and anticipate financing needs.
  • Uphold confidentiality of all client information.
  • Meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience managing a team of 10+ staff.
  • 8+ years of experience in small business counseling and/or lending.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual in English and one of these languages is preferred: Chinese, Korean, or Spanish
  • Formal or informal experience managing a small business.
  • Excellent knowledge of local businesses and resources in New York City, Long Island, Mid-Hudson Valley and New Jersey.
  • Strong background in client management and customer service.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present information to a diverse customer base.
  • Finance and Accounting knowledge preferred
  • Commitment to the confidentiality of sensitive materials and information.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly gain knowledge of local businesses and resources.
  • Hands-on experience working with small business owners is a plus.
  • Experience working with low-income individuals in diverse communities.
  • Proven ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Google applications, and Microsoft Office Suite (specifically MS Word and Excel).
  • Location Requirement: This is a hybrid remote position with an initial 3 months of on-site training. Candidate must be willing to travel between NJ, NYC, LI, and Mid-Hudson.
  • Proficient in MS Office (including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and Google Suite.
