This leader will help lead the organization into how we leverage and 'weaponize' data to make strategic business decisions by leveraging consumer insights, market data, and analytics to guide sales growth, marketing strategies, and product development. We aren't looking for someone who can tell the weather we are looking for someone who can take the data and turn it into strategic insights with actionable next steps. As the Director of Business Insights and Analytics, you will lead the design, execution, and delivery of market and consumer insights, helping to shape the future of our brand. This role requires a balance of strategic leadership, deep analytical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration. You will oversee a team and work closely with Marketing, Sales, and Product Development to ensure data-driven decisions inform key initiatives and drive category performance. WORKING RELATIONSHIP Reports to VP of Marketing and will directly support Leadership Team, national sales team and marketing team. Person will also be responsible for managing the Business Insights and Analytics team and helping guide and coach them on how to provide the most value to the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive business intelligence strategy, integrating data from multiple platforms to deliver actionable insights.
- Partner with VP Marketing and VP Sales to understand key strategic challenges and determine how to utilize analytics to provide recommendations on how to overcome these challenges.
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports, providing stakeholders with real-time metrics on campaign performance, market trends, and ROI.
- Market and Category Analytics
- Lead the quantitative analysis for Leadership Team of brand, competitor, and category/market data, including share reporting, POS trends, market growth/decline, and retailer-specific insights.
- Develop an annual sales deck, connecting consumer insights with category performance to support the sell-in of new products and expand points of distribution.
- Provides data-driven recommendations to help achieve market winning results across the 4P's (Product, Placement, Pricing, Promos).
- Partner with sales, marketing, and finance to determine the most productive utilization of trade marketing spend with customers.
- Proactively identify market opportunities for the business through complex data analysis and develop recommendations for action.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to align trade marketing initiatives with overall brand strategies and business goals.
- Consumer Insights & Analytics
- Design, execute, and deliver consumer insights and analytics that guide critical business decisions for brand growth, marketing strategies, and product development.
- Develop and implement comprehensive consumer research plans, leveraging primary research (e.g., surveys, focus groups) and secondary data sources (e.g. Circana, Numerator and 84.51).
- Partner with the VP Marketing to create and manage a 3-year innovation pipeline with consumer-qualified ideas.
- Provide thought leadership in developing data-driven strategies that align with overall business objectives.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and mentor a team of analytics professionals, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching to direct reports and the broader marketing organization, enhancing data literacy and strategic thinking.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of experience in consumer insights, market research, or business analytics, preferably in the CPG industry.
- Expertise in using data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, preferred) and analyzing syndicated data sources (e.g. Circana, Numerator, 84.51).
- Strong understanding of consumer behavior, market dynamics, and category management principles.
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strategic thinker with a growth mindset and a focus on delivering measurable business impact. Ability to travel 20% of the time.
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in business, statistics, economics, or related field
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS) is a plus.
