Purpose and Goals

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the analytics enablement team, ensuring the effective integration and support of data engineering, data management, automation, and related functions.

  • Enhance processes related to data intake, governance, prioritization, and project management to support the broader analytics strategy and drive operational excellence.

  • Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor the analytics enablement team, including roles in data engineering, data management, and project management.
  • Develop and implement strategies for data governance, automation, and integration to streamline analytics processes and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment and support for data-related initiatives and projects.
  • Lead efforts to optimize data intake, governance, prioritization, and project management processes.
  • Oversee the use and development of tools and technologies related to Python, SQL, Tableau, Snowflake.
  • Direct the creation of data visualizations that effectively communicate insights and support business objectives.
  • Skills

  • Proven ability to lead and develop a diverse team, with a focus on mentoring and performance management.
  • Experience with data engineering, management practices, and data integration.
  • Knowledge of automation processes and tools.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Tableau, Snowflake.
  • Required experience working with claims data, including understanding claim processes and data requirements.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in overseeing complex data-related projects.
  • Expertise in data governance, process optimization, and prioritization.
  • Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in analytics, data engineering, or a related field, with a strong background in managing and developing teams.
  • Leadership experience at a Director level, particularly in analytics or data management roles.
  • Experience with relevant technologies such as Tableau, Snowflake, Python, SQL, and a proven track record in process improvement, project management, and data visualization.
  • Required experience with claims data.
  • Job Description Summary

    As a Director, Business Insights, youll lead a team responsible for extracting and manipulating internal and external data through R/SAS/SQL/Python, performing diagnostic and inferential analysis, investigating complex business concerns using data, technical techniques, analysis or visualization techniques, and communicating key findings to business partners. Your focus will be for your team to maximize and effectively communicate insight gained from internal and external data to ensure that business executives are making decisions in an optimally informed way.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Builds and maintains relationships and serves as a trusted business advisor to business executives, clients, internal risk partners and others.
  • Leads team performing data analysis and modeling on extracted data sets to craft, package and communicate actionable insights and recommendations to business partners and executives.
  • Directs team responsible for crafting, packaging and communicating internal/external insights to business partners.
  • Plans and advises team regarding work which may span more than one project or focus area.
  • Drives the development of strategies for the business unit.
  • Leads team in building business intelligence through tools such as R, Python, SAS, SQL, Tableau, etc.
  • May lead training on report preparation and data base access.
  • Leads a portfolio of special projects for both team members and members from other departments.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of department processes through ongoing initiatives.
  • Manages associates, including performance, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow and organizational planning, hiring and placement and disciplinary actions.
  • Reporting Relationships: Reports to Associate Vice President and leads team of Business Insight professionals.

    Typical Skills and Experiences:

    Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information, business, mathematics or related field with post-graduate studies preferred.

    Experience: Typically, 10 or more years of experience in data extraction, data manipulation, prescriptive analysis, and data visualization. Leadership experience required.

    Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

    Ability to lead various financial and operational analysis projects. Strong communication skills for interactions with others. Ability to understand business processes and the data produced by them.

    Job Conditions:

    Overtime Eligibility: Not eligible (Exempt)

    Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Occasional travel, nonstandard or extended work may be required based on project needs.
