Job Description:
The Director, Business Operations & Engagement leads efforts to advance the health and well-being of the Ohio University community through the direction, administration, strategic planning and day-to-day decision making related to the budget, human resource, compliance, departmental student training, student/member services and engagement and technology functions of all areas of Well-being (Recreation, Health Promotion, Counseling & Psychological Services, and Student Health Insurance). This position provides direct support to the Assistant Vice President, Well-Being and has significant interaction with and influence on all Well-Being staff in the delivery of strategic priorities and the safe, inclusive, and quality user experiences across all facilities, programs, services, and technologies. Additionally, the Director has oversight and guidance to the Student Health Insurance program and its annual operations. The Director serves as a senior leader of Well-Being units and provides leadership and education to staff on areas of expertise.
+ Administration & Risk Management: Assures that business procedures and reporting methods are accurate and in compliance with all state laws, university policies and procedures as well as departmental policies and procedures. Serves as the lead liaison with the Business Services Center and has oversight of the departmental operations including but not limited to: Budget, purchasing, resale/inventory and cash management, membership and sales, and support for the student health insurance program. Maintains oversight of all budgets within Well-being (Recreation, Health Promotion, Counseling & Psychological Services, & Student Health Insurance). Assists Assistant Vice President and leadership team in identifying and implementing business opportunities across all facilities, programs and services (Ping Recreation Center, Golf & Tennis Center, Bird Ice Arena, Aquatic Center, Walter Fieldhouse, Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Fitness, Outdoor Recreation, Health Promotion, Technology Initiatives, etc). Provides administrative support that increases efficiency, effectiveness and advances strategic progress. Anticipate and identify issues and areas of improvement, and produces viable and logical solutions. Maintains current knowledge of all areas of responsibility.
+ Assessment & Quality Improvement: Provides leadership to integrating quality improvement, coordination of assessment and analysis, and reporting efforts across all Well-Being units. Evaluates unit processes and policies for efficiency and effectiveness. Monitors and conducts analysis of departmental operations (usage and participation data, membership structures and fees, financial, HR, policy compliance, technology use, etc); Develops and implements improvements and trains staff accordingly. Supports and leads efforts to create a culture in which data and information are both valued and utilized for reporting and decision-making. Analyze process flows to identify barriers and inefficiencies and to ensure a high-quality customer experience. Analyzes and evaluates the interactions of Well-Being with its users and advocates for improvements. Routinely collaborates with staff to assess quality, understand users and needs and improve the customer experience. Articulate the logic and impact of decisions on groups of people, institutional structures and implications for practice. Shares data used to inform key decision makers in transparent and accessible tactics for program engagement while using appropriate technology. Use data to explain values and processes that lead to organizational improvement.
+ Teamwork & Inclusion: Recruits, hires, trains, supervises and evaluates professional and student staff and provides the ability to help others set and achieve goals. Responsible for the coordination of department-wide student and professional staff trainings and development opportunities. Provides leadership and guidance, promoting integrity, accountability and teamwork. Advocates for awareness, understanding and the diversity and inclusion of all people in all facilities, programs, and communications. Create a culture of feedback to improve operations and services. Anticipates future needs of students, the unit, or the division and make proactive adjustments to staffing levels or structure to meet those needs. Develops and maintains working relationships, and positively influences and motivates staff. Facilitates inclusive processes of developing and implementing change that effects multiple entities. Commits to intentional and on-going professional development of all staff.
+ Resource Management & Stewardship: Responsibly manages university resources including but not limited to finances, people, technology and equipment. Continuously evaluates operational efficiency, maximizes the impact of available resources and seeks opportunities to enhance and ensure the financial strength of areas of responsibility. Ensures that budgets are in compliance with University and Department guidelines, policy and procedures. Designated point of contact / collaborator with the Business Service Center to consistently monitor all revenue and expense budgets pertaining to area. Identify, assess and promote referral services to assist in generating revenue for the department.
+ Student Affairs: Provide leadership as a senior staff member of the Well-Being areas and active contributor to the Division of Student Affairs. Works directly with the Assistant Vice President and other members of leadership team to establish strategic goals, assess initiatives, and make decisions. Responsible for assisting the Assistant Vice President in ensuring the department's compliance with all state laws, university regulations and policies as well as all departmental policies and procedures. Serves on department, division, and/or university committees and projects. Collaborates with University faculty/staff on joint efforts. Promote and facilitate effective communication and collaborative efforts across all department, division, university and community partners. Maintain current knowledge of the University, its environment, purpose and affairs, and be prepared to respond to appropriate issues. Actively participate in professional development opportunities when available and maintain knowledge of current trends and best practices within area of responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Master's degree
+ A minimum of 8 years of related work experience.
+ A minimum of 3 years of management experience.
+ Valid Driver's License

Advertised Salary:
The target salary range is $80,593 to $108,801 commensurate with the selected candidate's education and experience while considering internal equity.
