Job Description:

The Director of Business Operations Informatics leads IT elements within initiatives, services, and programs associated with the Office of Business Operations and is responsible for outcomes. He/She serves as the liaison between Business Operations and Enterprise IT through the fostering of critical partnerships and collaboration. The Director of Business Operations Informatics provides ongoing leadership, guidance and mentorship to the team and serves as resident IT expert for Business Operations.

The Director reviews, analyzes, and evaluates the technical and functional requirements for Business Operations initiatives and works cross functionally with the business, clinical and the EITS teams. He/she is responsible for creating and refining IT system requirements including standing up IT structure supporting Business Operations initiatives managed by the Senior AVP of Business Operations. Serves as the subject matter expert and provides strategic direction and guidance, as well as leadership of the project management team for initiatives with significant IT implications.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partners in the identification and development of Business Operations initiatives and opportunities consistent with the mission and strategic direction of the Health System under the direction of Senior Leadership.
  • Serves as resident IT leader for Business Operations team and supports additional teams across the Health System as appropriate.
  • Leads and mentors team members on their development and performance improvement techniques including assisting with strategic planning of initiatives focused on Health System priorities.
  • Leads teams, attends high level administrative meetings, provides IT expertise in support of system wide projects related to the evolution of operations within New York City Health + Hospital facilities under direction of Business Operations leadership.
  • Provides direction and support to Business Operations colleagues ensuring the team is informed of all necessary IT analytics and ongoing initiative stages or details.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships within the system in order to obtain information and content from providers and colleagues to foster successful project completion.
  • Stays current with IT advancements which could benefit the Health System. Leverages this knowledge to assess potential opportunities and shares insights and recommendations with Business Operations Senior Leadership.
  • Leads others and manages multiple projects across the Health System, as needed.
  • Provides insights and interpretation of business IT requirements, mapping IT process models, designing technical solutions to satisfy requirements, and completing formal system piloting.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Computer Science,

Management or other related discipline from an accredited college or university; and six (6) years of satisfactory,

full-time paid responsible experience in information processing, program management, systems development or

related activity in a large governmental agency, hospital or health care facility, or hospital-related business firm,

three (3) years of which must have been in a managerial capacity; or

2. Master s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in 1 above, and five (5) years of

experience, as described in #2 above, one (1) year of which must have been in a managerial capacity; or

3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.

Department Preferences

  • A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; a satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Completion of Master s Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Public Administration, Public Health, or similar.
  • Has a minimum of 5 years of IT and project management experience as well as leading and managing teams
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a managerial capacity
  • Has excellent planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Has excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Has the ability to travel up to 20%, based on project needs.
  • Has proficiency with Microsoft Visio, Project, Excel, Word and standard computer programs required. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques.
  • Is a highly-motivated, meticulous, and IT savvy leader with excellent problem-solving and communication skills to join a fast-paced, growth-oriented work environment in health system Business Operations.
