This position leads a team of Clinical Nutrition Managers and Registered Dietitians at our Manhattan and Brooklyn Campuses. (Tisch/Kimmel Hospitals, Hassenfeld Children's Hospital, Fink Ambulatory Care Center, Langone Orthopedic Hospital, and NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn) This position is responsible for holding the team accountable to achieve departmental and organizational goals and ensuring that care is delivered to our patients with the highest level of quality, accuracy and safety.Responsible for directing and overseeing the Clinical Nutrition program and assuring compliance with the Rules and Regulations of the Medical Board, The Joint Commission, CMS, DOH and other regulatory agencies.Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adheres to and promotes the mission, vision and values of the Food and Nutrition Services Department and NYU Langone Health.

  • Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback, and performance evaluations to employees and managers to reward, coach, correct and motivate.
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, and counseling of management and staff
  • Represents and is actively involved with hospital committees and other regional/national applicable professional organizations.
  • Plans, coordinates, and directs programs to support NYU Dietetic Internship, and other student educational programs.
  • Acts as liaison for the Food and Nutrition Department with other NYULH departments, including Pharmacy, IT, Regulatory, and Nursing. Monitor all aspects of nutrition care and service.
  • .Function as a resource person to registered dietitians, nutrition students/interns and medical team regarding nutritional management of patients.
  • Stays abreast of current trends, codes and standards, assuring that NYULH provides state of the art Nutrition care.
  • Revision, review, and creation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission requirements, Federal, State and other local regulations.
  • Establish, implement and maintain clinical nutrition standards.
  • Manage financial performance for areas of responsibility.
  • Provide oversight and manage overall performance of all Registered Dietitians (RD) within the Manhattan and Brooklyn campuses, regarding the provision of medical nutrition therapy including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and evaluation, and patient education according to established departmental policies.
  • Participate in interdepartmental committees and maintain positive collaborative relationship across the organization. Leads and Directs the Diet and Nutrition Sub-committee of the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee. Act as a liaison for Nutrition services with Epic (EMR).
  • Foster strong connection with the medical staff and introduces therapies to integrate nutrition programs throughout all services.
  • Design, direct and implement quality service performance improvement process related to clinical nutrition services, patient safety and service improvement goals.
  • Recognize and adopt activities appropriate to the specific needs of the patients and in line with the professional standards of practice.
  • Develop and coordinate provision of nutrition education to frontline staff that relates to patient menus and diet orders.
  • Maintain department's information system inclusive of establishing parameters and ensuring accuracy of the EMR (Epic)/CBORD information interface for all NYULH sites. Make recommendations for upgrades as necessary based on the latest advances in research and coordinate with respective interdisciplinary teams to facilitate.
  • Maintains open communications and provides weekly clinical updates to the Senior Director and collaborates with other members of the Food and Nutrition team.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field required. 8 years experience within Clinical Nutrition management in a healthcare facility/setting.Registered Dietitian (RD) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR -the credentialing Agency for Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) NYS Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CDN) within 365 days Preferred Qualifications:Masters Degree in nutrition or related field, with 10+ years experience within Clinical Nutrition management in a healthcare facility/setting.Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.NYU Langone Health provides its staff with far more than just a place to work. The salary range for the role is $97,589.95 - $162,649.75 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
