About the DepartmentThe Diabetes Sales Team leads the US sales efforts for Novo Nordisk's robust cardiometabolic product portfolio, which includes world class therapies for the treatment of diabetes, obesity, and the reduction of adverse cardiovascular events. Candidates may live anywhere in the United States.The PositionThe position is responsible for managing and leading the execution of brand strategies and company initiatives within their aligned Commercial Field Area. Leads a team who focuses on execution of marketing strategy and company initiatives within a Commercial Field Area. Responsible for overall area/therapeutic field efficiency and provides oversight over the execution of area business plans. Identifies opportunities to increase area sales through applying a field lens to business trends and sales metrics. Provides generalist support to enable the VP, Area Commercial Lead. Partners with respective home office functions in employing local market strategies and operational efficiencies within the Area.RelationshipsThe position reports to the VP, Area Commercial Lead. Serves as a critical partner to the VP, Area Commercial Lead in executing and monitoring the Area business plans. Operates within the execution matrix led by the National Sales Execution leader. Partners with home office functions on execution of strategies on the monitoring Area and Regional progress towards goals. Participates on, leads and serves on cross-collaboration governance teams as needed. Reporting to this individual are the area ADCE's and field administrative support team.Essential FunctionsField Execution:Manages a team with point/lead therapeutic franchise responsibility that works with the Brand teams and identifies problems and works to implement solutions for current and future initiativesResponsible for awareness and understanding of what resources (included resources, processes, tools or technology) are available for the sales force and assist in the execution thereofLeads a team that analyzes the market trends and competitive environment and engages in internal stakeholder conversations to determine the appropriate direction in deploying field resources in a compliant mannerEnsures the Area is effectively executing the strategic and tactical elements of the Diabetes and Obesity business plansRepresents the Area in the development of the companys strategic and marketing plansEnsures the execution of home office initiatives in support of field processes and technologyAnalyzes the Area budget and partners with the VP, Area Commercial Lead on forecasting expenditures, reporting variances, reallocations and ensuring responsible spendingManages individuals that provide regional/Area administrative support to the respective Field DirectorsProvides oversight and ensures accountability of execution against company and Area prioritiesManages field requests and champions initiatives to national Execution team and marketing for requests aligned to national strategies in support of local marketsUncovers local market opportunities, and partners with marketing, operations and internal stakeholders to coordinate and ensure appropriate executionCommunicationResponsible for ensuring National communications are understood and executed. Leads communications for the respective AreaField IntelligenceEnsures the VP and national Sales Execution team is up-to-date on business performance and identifies issues with sales forecasts and makes recommendationsManages field requests and champions initiatives to marketing and sales operations for requests aligned to national strategies in support of local markets Delivery of insights to marketing and input into marketing strategies and tactics for the brands and COEsCollaborates with home office function at the Area level to provide field input into execution of the strategyApplies a field lens to and delivers information to home office functions, primarily the national Execution team, marketing, and Commercial OperationsPhysical Requirements20-30% overnight travel required.Development of PeopleEnsure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.QualificationsBachelors degree in Business or a related field. MBA or equivalent preferredRequires 12 years of sales, sales management or sales/marketing support experience in pharmaceuticals and/or related healthcareA minimum of 3 years managing a team requiredAbility to prioritizeHigh level of analytics and insight generation requiredA strong understanding of pharma and market dynamics requiredPrior experience operationalizing a strategyPrior experience with portfolio selling approachesKnowledge of pharmaceutical sales data sourcesAbility to operationalize marketing tools and resources to drive business resultsStrong collaboratorThe base compensation range for this position is $181,660 to $280,000. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance. Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
