Alphina Therapeutics:Alphina Therapeutics is an early stage biopharma company founded by world class scientists and backed by a strong syndicate of venture capitalists. Based on the work of Alphina's founders, the company is developing a first-in-class small molecule inhibitor of a metabolic pathway to treat a variety of solid tumors. Alphina is also developing a proprietary companion diagnostic to enable selection of patients whose tumors harbor perturbations which make their tumor exquisitely sensitive to Alphina's lead compounds. Approximately 30% of all solid tumors display this perturbation and would therefore be a candidate for Alphina's drug. The company aims to enter the clinic in early 2026. Alphina plans to test their drug candidate in multiple tumor types, which could enable a development path to address a very large market.Alphina is located at the Elm City Bioscience Center (ECBC) at 55 Church St in New Haven, next to Yale's campus and easily accessible from both New York and Boston.Position Summary:We are currently seeking a highly motivated Director, Corporate Development who will initially report to the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for corporate strategy, business development, investor relations, competitive intelligence and financial planning & analysis. This high impact role will drive priority projects across the organization in close collaboration with the executive team. Entrepreneurial candidates with previous experience in management consulting, investment banking or venture investing are encouraged to apply.Key Responsibilities:Act as strategic thought partner to the CEO and executive team membersDevelop and execute the company's corporate strategy in close collaboration with the executive team; lead scenario planning activities for capital allocation decisionsDevelop and refine company presentation materials, tailoring to multiple audiencesOversee and manage the company's fundraising activities with potential venture investorsOversee and manage the company's business development activities with potential pharmaceutical company partnersBuild and manage financial models, including with respect to program forecasting and company runwayGenerate analyses relating to market opportunity, portfolio expansion, competitive landscape and evaluation of deal termsFoster strong cross-functional collaboration with R&D groups, project teams, finance, operations and legalQualifications and Skills:MBA preferred; BS or graduate degree in a scientific discipline requiredDeep familiarity with the biotech industry and drug development activitiesAbility to communicate credibly and clearly with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and externalExperience working closely with teams of scientists and cliniciansCapable of developing compelling presentations and proposalsSuperior analytic and financial modeling skillsAbility to influence and build consensusStrong attention to detailResults-driven with a sense of urgency and highly collaborative styleHighly self-motivated with ability to multitask, manage time, handle uncertainty and work under pressure with limited oversightOther Information:Alphina is proud to offer a competitive package of compensation and comprehensive benefits.
