Job Summary:

Mortgage/structured finance analyst with prior experience in credit risk and cashflow analysis, able to add value in various areas such as new issue and surveillance of structured credit transactions, among other business-related initiatives.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Experienced residential and/or commercial mortgage, structured finance analyst able to support and add value to global underwriting units in the design and structuring of unique reinsurance and insurance structured credit transactions.
  • Run and create cash flow models and other analytical resources to support and add value to the pricing and analysis of risk.
  • Research/stay abreast of diverse topics such as housing, economy, regulations and mortgage finance related trends to evaluate and explain the risks in underwriting the transactions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform aggregation of risk positions and data mining/trend analysis across exposures in residential and commercial loans and structured credit transactions.
  • Perform and create tools/methods for ongoing surveillance/monitoring/accounting of existing business.
  • Prepare client and internal management presentations as well as general marketing material.
  • Work with brokers and MGA's to negotiate deal related documentation.
  • Process rating agency/counterparty information requests.
  • Flexibility on travel required (mainly conferences, diligence meetings, client audits).
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
  • 5+ years of work experience.
  • Pursuit of CFA/FRM/MBA/Actuarial designation is preferred.
  • Past work experience at a commercial bank, investment bank, asset manager, REIT, mortgage insurer, financial guarantor, GSE, rating agency preferred.
  • Mortgage credit analysis background in at least one of: residential and/or commercial, multifamily, structured finance, structured surety.
  • Some knowledge of insurance/reinsurance/capital markets structuring/loss mitigation/capital relief.
  • Experience working with MGA's, brokers preferred.
  • Understanding of regulatory capital across risk taking enterprises preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
  • Able to express complex concepts in clear prose is required.
  • Ability to work in a very unstructured environment on multiple transaction/deliverables is required.
  • Self-motivated and team player; ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision and interact across the organization as well as with external counterparties is required.
  • A creative problem solver – ability to analyze diverse, complex problems to understand transaction related risks/intricacies as well as ability to propose solutions is required.
  • Experience with R, VBA, SQL, and other programming languages is helpful.
  • Excel modeling/data mining skills, attention to detail is required.
  • Word, PowerPoint is required.
  • Research background helpful.
