The District is seeking candidates for Director, Data Analytics to support assigned schools/area and other programs.

BASIC FUNCTION:The Director, Data Analytics will plan, manage, coordinate, and implement the design, development, testing, and maintenance of a District-wide comprehensive data strategy aligned with the District's educational and operational goals; administer and improve District data management, analysis, and reporting practices utilizing advanced data analytics to support decision-making and improve student outcomes; and serve as a technical advisor to staff.

The Director, Data Analytics is on the AASD Classified Supervisor II Salary Schedule, Salary Grade: 032.

E = Essential Functions

  • Plan, develop, organize, and implement technology services specifically related to advanced data analytics initiatives for decision making for schools and central offices; provide leadership in development, dissemination, and implementation of data analytics and other related technology strategies for the purpose of providing access to accurate data. E
  • Lead the design, ongoing development, and testing of relevant, scalable, and efficient advanced data analytics infrastructure in collaboration with the Integrated Technology Division to support District decision making by providing technical expertise in the specification, selection, and implementation of standardized data reporting methodologies and tools. E
  • Plan and coordinate with senior leaders and staff to enhance data services, including the collection, integration, analyses, security, and reporting of all types of student and organizational performance data. E
  • Drive the collection and retention of data sources to ensure a robust and comprehensive data set to base findings and recommendations; develop and implement data governance policies to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with local, state, and federal data security laws and regulations. E
  • Collaborate with technical resources to design, implement, secure, and maintain data architecture strategies around the enterprise data warehouse and the use of management and data analytics tools. E
  • Lead and promote the District culture of data-driven decision making and data use support strategies utilizing data analytics technologies through meetings, ongoing trainings, and visual job aids; prepare and deliver oral and written presentations; collaborate with central office and site administrators, staff, teachers, parents, and community groups. E
  • Provide technical expertise, and assistance to department leadership regarding assigned functions; assist in the formulation and development of policies, procedures and programs; advise leadership of problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions. E
  • Lead the development and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical dashboards, reports, records, and files related to assigned activities and personnel; ensure alignment with District-wide strategic initiatives. E
  • Communicate with administrators, staff, and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts, and exchange information to encourage effective and efficient management controls. E
  • Monitor departmental budget(s), as assigned; analyze and review budgetary and financial data; control and authorize expenditures in accordance with established limitations. E
  • Attend and conduct a variety of meetings as assigned; establish and maintain relations/membership with local, state, and federal agencies and other organizations to remain current on programs and issues that affect data analytics technology and related services; present reports and initial findings as assigned. E
  • Supervise, mentor, and conduct personnel administration duties for direct reports. E
  • Conduct special projects as requested.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, data science, statistics, or related field and seven (7) years or more of progressively responsible experience in the management and development of data analytics systems and/or related technologies. Direct professional-level experience in education data mining/analysis, including large-scale data analyses to evaluate and or present recommendations to innovative processes is highly desirable.
