Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Data Quality Management, the Director, and Data Stewardship is responsible for defining the strategic direction of our key data stewardship capabilities and for driving the implementation and evolution of these capabilities in alignment with regulatory and business drivers. These capabilities include business metadata management, data quality rule management, data quality analysis and remediation, and supporting data governance activities. The role is responsible for working with a variety of stakeholders to ensure that the people, processes, and technology required to enable our data stewardship program and drive sustainable improvements in our enterprise data quality are operating effectively and efficiently.Major Responsibilities:
20% - Strategy and Framework:Facilitate our Enterprise Data Management vision by defining, evolving, and communicating an effective strategy relative to our Data Stewardship program. This program encompasses the following key capabilities and activities:Business Metadata Management, development, normalization and maintenance of enterprise data concepts, taxonomy, terms and definitions. Maintenance of business metadata including quality rules, data ownership, systems of record, etc.Engagement with business stakeholders to ensure awareness, alignment and input on the above mentioned items. Data Quality Rule Management:Development and maintenance of data quality rules and related KPI's and thresholds which support quality monitoring and reporting processes. Engagement with business stakeholders to ensure ongoing evolution and maintenance of quality rules. Data Quality Analysis and Remediation:Drive development and evolution of Data Quality monitoring and reporting capabilities working with DQ Reporting team. Ensure that data issues are effectively identified, captured, and prioritized and that accountable stakeholders are effectively engaged and remediating quality issues in a timely manner. Data Governance:Contribute to development of data management policies, procedures, and standards relative to data stewardship activities. Monitor and enforce adherence to data management policies and procedures. Engage with enterprise change initiatives to ensure that the introduction of undesirable impacts to data definition, maintenance, quality and/or consumption are minimized. Engage our stakeholders in the development of a shared target state vision with clear business objectives and benefits which are informed by industry best practices and regulator expectations. Define an executable roadmap of initiatives based on this vision which increases the quality and value of our data as a strategic enterprise asset in support of strong risk management, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and revenue enhancement. Ensure ongoing stakeholder awareness and engagement through regular communications. 40% - Program Leadership and Implementation Oversight:Lead improvements in data stewardship through execution of the strategic roadmap in partnership with key stakeholders throughout the enterprise. Act as business lead and subject matter expert for projects and programs which drive improvements in our data stewardship capabilities. Define and manage program scope and deliverables, funding and resource planning, and delivery timelines to ensure appropriately staffed projects and successful execution. Support evolution of and adherence to enterprise data management policies, standards, and controls as required. 20% - Team and Talent Management:Manage an existing team of Enterprise Data Stewards. Employ performance management best practices to evolve the skills and capabilities of this team and to ensure that high-quality talent is attracted, developed and retained. 20% - Cross Functional Collaboration:Interfaces with line of business partners, technology, internal audit, external vendors, regulatory agencies and others to maintain awareness of internal and external trends, best practices, issues, and opportunities and to drive proactive leverage potential synergies.QualificationsRequires a Bachelor's degree (or higher). Requires five or more years of data management related experience in the financial services industry, including a track record of leading and successfully delivering large change efforts (including data management efforts). Strong understanding of data management best practices such as data governance, master and reference data management, metadata management, data architecture, and data quality management is required. Excellent interpersonal, influencing, written and verbal communication skills at all organizational levels is required. Proven ability to build and manage teams and work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve results in complex, matrixed organizations is required. Experience in retail and commercial banking or other area of financial services is strongly preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
