Our developer products enable developers to build incredible document processing experiences into their applications and expect capabilities to be easy and seamless to use. Our end-user products cater to business users solving broad horizontal document workflows where usability is the key differentiator. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure that our solutions deliver that expectation for our customers and create Apryse as a household name for design excellence. As a player/coach, you'll lead a growing team through your ability to demonstrate the correct actions and outputs while also bringing best practices from your experience. This role requires a leader with a strong design background, team management skills, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on design work when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Design Leadership: Own the design vision and strategy across all Apryse products, ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment with business goals.
  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a talented team of UI/UX designers, fostering an environment of creativity and collaboration.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product management, engineering, and other departments to understand technical constraints, user needs, and business objectives.
  • User-Centered Design: Champion a user-first approach by guiding the design team in creating experiences that are both beautiful and functional.
  • Design System Development: Oversee the creation and maintenance of a unified design system and ensure its implementation across all teams and products.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Lead the team in building high-quality prototypes and conducting usability tests to validate ideas and ensure top-tier user experiences.
  • Market & Competitive Awareness: Stay on top of design trends, competitor products, and user feedback, using these insights to continuously enhance our design processes and products.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Be a key stakeholder in the product development process, working closely with leadership to align design strategy with overall company objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in software or product design with at least 3+ years in a leadership role (Director/Senior Manager level or equivalent).
  • Technical Understanding: Strong understanding of designing for end-user SaaS products, mobile, developer SDKs and APIs, or complex software products with technical user bases such as developers or engineers.
  • Design Systems: Hands-on experience developing and maintaining scalable design systems for a product portfolio.
  • Design Skills: Proficiency in leading design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc.) and a strong portfolio showcasing successful product design projects.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and communicate design concepts to non-designers.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in managing and growing a design team, with a focus on mentorship, development, and driving team performance.
  • Customer Empathy: Experience in conducting user research, usability testing, and applying user feedback to iterate on designs.
  • Innovative Thinking: Ability to push creative boundaries while aligning with business goals and technical constraints.

Assets:

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the document processing, enterprise software, or SDK/API product space.
  • Global Team Management: Experience leading design teams across multiple time zones or geographies.
