Job Type Full-timeDescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe Director, Environmental & Sustainability for CHG Group, Inc. (CHGi) is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects related to environmental sustainability and compliance within CHGi and the U.S. Business Units (BU). The Director plays a crucial role in developing and implementing strategies to minimize the environmental impact of the organization's operations and ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental regulations. The Environmental & Sustainability Director works closely with various departments and business unit HSE teams to promote environmentally sustainable practices and foster a culture of environmental responsibility.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • In support of the VP, HSE, lead HSE Line of Defense (LoD) audits of subject operations
  • Stay up to date on changes in environmental regulations and ensure organizational compliance with all applicable laws
  • Design and implement environmental training programs to educate employees on best practices for sustainability and environmental responsibility
  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable practices into the organization's operations, products, and services
  • Monitor and analyze environmental performance metrics to track progress towards sustainability goals, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes as required
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, environmental organizations, and community groups, to stay informed about emerging trends and collaborate on environmental initiatives
  • Coordinate the development and submission of environmental reports and permits required by regulatory agencies
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks
  • Develop and implement a sustainability strategy aligned with Chemring Group PLC's 2035 Net Zero goals and lead sustainability initiatives, such as energy conservation, waste reduction, and water management, by setting goals and implementing strategies to achieve set objectives
  • Monitor organizational measurement indicators as well as communication efforts and provide progress reports to Senior Leadership

  • Comply with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure 100% compliance with the Chemring Operational Framework, Code of Conduct and U.S. Code of Ethics and Business Conduct

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

RequirementsEDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or related engineering field (preferred), or Environmental Management, or a related field
  • Professional certifications in environmental management, such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), are preferred
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental management, sustainability, or related field
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and standards
  • Experience in developing and implementing environmental policies and procedures
  • Experience in managing sustainability initiatives and achieving measurable results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with reactive, and/or energetic and explosive materials (preferred)
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify environmental issues and develop effective solutions
  • Proficiency in conducting environmental audits and assessments
  • Strong project management skills to plan, execute, and monitor sustainability initiatives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams to adopt sustainable practices
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to measure environmental performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in using environmental management software and tools
