This requires problem solving around ancillary system issues, helping operational staff identify potential systems and improvements in current systems.Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements strategic information technology initiatives designed to drive improvement through the institution.
  • Evaluates and implements information technology procedures, operations, and equipment for maximum efficiency, cost containment, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Monitors performance against standards or service level agreements and initiates corrective action when appropriate.
  • Directs the continuing maintenance, review, installation and upgrade of existing Epic and non-Epic clinical ancillary systems and applications. Liaises with departments, vendors, and technicians to identify and resolve Epic clinical ancillary application system issues and to assess computer needs and system requirements; recommends Epic and non-Epic software and related hardware acquisitions.
  • Oversees and participates in the planning, development and implementation of future Epic and non-Epic clinical ancillary system enhancements. Collaborates in the development and implementation of long-range plans, establishment of priorities, identification of requirements, and training of users.
  • Provides input and justification for project costs, capital expenditures and budgets. Monitors and evaluates budgetary expenditures. Oversees, plans, and manages the entire life cycle of assigned Epic and non-Epic clinical ancillary system projects to ensure each project is completed within the defined scope, quality, time, and cost constraints.
  • Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to accomplish organizational goals and objectives; oversees recruitment, supervision, training, performance evaluation, and problem resolution of staff.
  • Represents information systems on institutional committees, subcommittees and work groups including, but not limited to, Epic physician oversight committee (EPOC), Epic clinical oversight committee (ECLOC), and Epic executive leadership committee (ELC) information systems steering committee.
