Job Summary:

Directs all facilities maintenance, plant operations and facilities planning and construction at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital locations; including the main hospital campus, ambulatory locations, and business offices. Collaborates with stakeholders to determine scope of project requirements, schedule and budgetary estimates, and timeframe. Manages all aspects of routine maintenance including management of the physical plant, electrical delivery systems, HVAC, plumbing, medical gas delivery systems, emergency generators, and physical plant of all owned and leased locations. Responsible for the general fire life safety of the hospital. Provides knowledgeable and collaborative engagement with regulatory organizations including HCAI/OSHPD, City/County/State inspectors and Accreditation/Licensing consultants and inspectors.

Licensure and Certification:

* CEM (Certified Energy Manager) or CHFM (Certified Health Care Facility Management) certification preferred.

* Valid CA Driver's license

Education:

* 4-year degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Construction Science, Electrical Engineering or the like required; or 10 - 15 years of work experience or a combination of education and work experience equaling 15 years or greater.

* Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

* 6-8+ years' experience as a Director of Engineering at a large medical facility (130 to 300+ bed units) or direct management of a group or system of hospitals; or 10 - 20 years engineering, maintenance construction experience in a health care institution with related continuous education courses.

Knowledge and Skills:

* Working knowledge of HVAC utilities and piped gas systems.

* Computer literate with excellent technical organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communications.

* Advanced knowledge of NFPA, JCAHO, DNV, OSHA and EPA is required.

* Demonstrated experience with relationship management of state agencies HCAI/OSHPD.

Physical Demands - Clerical/Administrative Non-Patient Care:

* Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.

* Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.

* Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.

* Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.

* Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

* Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
