Job Description:

Continental Finance Company (“CFC”) specializes in credit card options for those consumers with less than perfect credit. We are seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Reporting, to support and lead our financial reporting team as the Company looks to IPO in the near future.

The Senior Manager, Financial Reporting, reporting to the Controller, is responsible for administering and performing the monthly, quarterly, and annual responsibilities for the Company's overall financial reporting function. This position will oversee, implement, and maintain the preparation of internal and filing of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP regulations (and SEC, as applicable). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of experience and a history of working at Big 4 accounting firms and/or publicly held companies. Note that CFC is not currently a publicly traded company but may have intentions to pursue an IPO in the coming years.

CFC offers a hybrid work schedule which includes three (3) core days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and two (2) remote workdays (Monday and Friday).

Essential Functions:

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual internal & external reports through preparation/review of supporting schedules for financial statements prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepare financial information and exhibits for earnings calls, disclosures and audit committees, as required.
  • Oversee consolidation, including multiple legal entities and eliminations.
  • Provide technical U.S. GAAP analysis and training, including researching U.S. GAAP, and prepare technical accounting policy documents, as needed.
  • Responsible for managing and auditing the work of the reporting staff and assisting in performance management within the department.
  • Review balance sheet and income statement variance reviews and assist in developing a comprehensive analytical review package for the Controller and CFO and executive management.
  • Review investor reporting, debt covenant reporting, management reporting as well as mark to market accounting including reviewing complex transactions and their accuracy for recording in the general ledger.
  • Responsible for reviewing departmental budgets for accuracy prior to dissemination to various responsible parties.
  • Assist in external financial statement audits including, preparing, responding, and analyzing financial statement audit requests.
  • Monitor the release of new reporting and disclosure rules and interpretations issued by the FASB, listed exchanges, and other regulators.
  • As the Company pursues a future IPO, candidate will be responsible for managing monthly, quarterly, and annual external reports (including XBRL filings) through preparation/review of supporting schedules for financial statements prepared in accordance with SEC and U.S. GAAP.
  • Maintain good internal control procedures and ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley regulations.
  • Additional Duties, as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required. CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years (combined) progressive accounting experience in a public accounting setting and public company experience is a must.
  • Technical and comprehensive knowledge of finance, financial planning, accounting and tax areas of a business including an excellent understanding of GAAP.
  • Strong leadership and proven supervisory skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, and advanced Excel).
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
  • Prior credit card or financial services experience a plus, but not required.
