Location: University,MS, USA
Direct financial affairs for the Department of Pathology, a large complex department - includes financial analysis and forecasting, budgeting, grants administration and facilities planning. Establishes financial systems for Department. Directs/coordinates staff as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Review and analyze financial statements and other reports for the Executive Admin and Chairman.
2. Propose methods to improve financial position of the department or, if necessary, to prevent forecasted problems. Also monitor budget versus actual performance and propose modifications as needed.
3. Supervise/train direct report staff as needed.
4. Coordinate direct reports and additional office staff to ensure that business operations are functioning properly between finance group, and assist research group with grant close out as needed to ensure completion of projects.
5. Assign work to direct reports and additional office staff (as needed), direct how it is to be accomplished and provide feedback as necessary to accomplish departmental financial goals.
6. Develop annual budget for the department and coordinate all related budgets, timelines and deadlines by University, School of Medicine and other related entities.
7. Develop, prepare and coordinate various Health System and School of Medicine reports/presentations/requested information.
8. Review and approve payment requests, po requisitions, internal requisitions, departmental contracts.
9. Ensure that funds are available and that all expenditures are legitimate and in accordance with policy.
10. Monitor personnel transactions to include but not be limited to adherence to budget, appropriateness to status and issues regarding effort reporting.
11. Perform other duties as assigned
Annual Salary Range: $94,375 - $153,355
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required.
Preferred education: Bachelor's in Accounting
Preferred License: CPA or eligible for licensure, but not required
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
