Job Description:
Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion.Essential Functions and Responsibilities1. Assists the Vice Provost of Institutional Effectiveness and Research and Senior Director for Institutional Effectiveness in the oversight and evaluation of curricular and co-curricular assessment processes, both residentially and online.2. Manages all institutional and program-level (large-scale) assessment of learning by reviewing student learning outcomes and using the assessment results for continuous improvement of student learning at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.3. Develops and conducts training programs for all University colleges/schools and departments in systems and processes that define assessment needs, including articulating learning outcomes, mapping curricula, and designing data collection instruments/approaches across the disciplines both residentially and online.4. Executes Site Administrator responsibilities and training for Compliance Assist assessment management system modules.5. Supports all University colleges/schools, departments, and assessment coordinators with the development of assessment strategies and instruments for departmental learning outcomes, both residentially and online.6. Assists in the analysis of University assessment data with an emphasis on ensuring the use of assessment results to formulate and implement continuous improvement of student learning at both the program and institutional levels both residentially and online.7. Remains knowledgeable of SACSCOC Standards for the purposes of supporting institutional compliance and accreditation.8. Assists with data management and assessment processes leading up to the completion of compliance reports.9. Provides support in the development and implementation of the University's Strategic Plan and Quality Enhancement Plan.10. Supports the Vice Provost of Institutional Effectiveness and Research with the development of policies and processes by providing pertinent institutional assessment knowledge.11. Provides appropriate support for Academic Department's compliance with programmatic or discipline specific accreditation agencies while promoting measures for ensuring consistency across all such external reporting.12. Assists in the preparation and distribution of student course evaluation results.13. Directs Academic Departments' systematic review of course syllabi.14. Responsible for projecting budgetary needs for assessment projects.15. Supervises and conducts performance evaluations for respective team members.16. Other tasks as assigned by the Vice Provost of Institutional Effectiveness and Research.17. Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks.18. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for at least 2 staff.Qualifications, Credentials, and CompetenciesMaster's degree and 3+ years in higher education with a relevant combination of assessment, data analysis, institutional research, and supervisory experience. Demonstrated competency can be considered equivalent where appropriate. Effective communication both verbally and in writing. Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Excellent computer and organizational skills. Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
