GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:The Director for Student Experience is based at the College's Systems Office and positively impacts student success by engaging with high impact student retention initiatives as well as working to support teams in student life, leadership development, and wraparound services at Ivy Tech Community College's 19 campuses. This position oversees the statewide coordination and implementation of activities and initiatives designed to provide students with opportunities for leadership, service engagement, student governance, student programming, wellness, and student organizations. This position works with the Assistant Vice President for Student Success and campus leadership in managing stakeholder relationships across the state, implementing statewide training, creating and implementing streamlined and effective internal operational processes, and coordinating event and program logistics.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support and maintain an established student life model with core functional areas that encourages student engagement and provides a consistent student experience while allowing for campus flexibility.
  • Collaborate with the Student Success team, to support statewide retention initiatives including IvyAchieves and IvyCares (wraparound services) programs.
  • Coordinate and manage the assessment process of student life and statewide retention initiatives at each campus, including preparing reports as needed to demonstrate programming outcomes
  • Identify and implement best practices for creating a vibrant student life experience and student success programs; provide training, guidance, and support to the Student Life Officers supporting student leadership development programs, student governance, service engagement, student programming, recreation/wellness programs, and student organizations.
  • Serve as a consultant and advocate for student affairs, student success, and student life programs, through maintaining and sharing best practices across the Ivy Tech system. Work closely with the AVP for Student Success and campus student life staff to provide vision, leadership, coaching and direction for the delivery of student development and campus activities and programs.
  • Develop and implement accountability and communications tools to support campus programs and leaders statewide. Coordinate and lead campus site visits as needed to provide programmatic support.
  • Work closely with the Student Success Team to create opportunities to bolster student life through helping campuses leverage student organizations, ensuring the tracking of student experiences via Ivy Life, and sharing the narrative of student life systemwide.
  • In partnership with the AVP for Student Success, coordinate annual statewide programs including: Student Leadership Academy, Student Leadership Conference, and Ivy Advance.
  • Work closely with the Student Life Coordinator to ensure campuses are supported in their civic engagement efforts across the Ivy Tech System, which includes Constitution Week, TurboVote, Days at the Statehouse, and Days of Service.
  • Assist with the administration of budgets for student engagement and support activities.
  • Work alongside the Assistant Vice President for Student Success as a strategic thought partner on how student life and student support programs can contribute to the student success and retention vision of the College.
  • Work directly with the data analytics team to iterate dashboards to monitor, track, and support program outcomes and progress for students.
  • Schedule, plan, and lead meetings, virtually and in-person, with campus and community stakeholders
  • Work with Communications and Marketing to create and distribute marketing deliverables for statewide student life and student success programs.
  • Provide general administrative, operational, and programmatic support under the guidance of the Assistant Vice President for Student Success.

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently is required.
  • Must demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.
