- The Creative Services Director will oversee and support the design and branding for districtwide, signature events, special projects, and communication initiatives. The director will generate big ideas and manage a team of employees and contractors to develop the brand and create the design of external and internal experiences, including website design and development, artistic direction, signage, and other collateral creation. The director will define the goals of each project/event, determine the concept, and devise a plan of action to meet those goals. The director will manage the budget for creative projects/events, hire employees and contractors and track goal progress.
- Direct and coordinate all stages of event planning and special projects-from conception to completion-for multiple districtwide signature events that impact all employees, parents, students, partners, and community members.
- Develop, manage, and track event budget and expenditures, negotiate with venues, consultants, and vendors to secure rates and supervise event staff as well as consultants, vendors, and volunteers.
- Make presentations and submit proposals to senior leadership or designee to detail signature events/projects to gain buy-in and convey event/project/campaign strategies and solutions.
- Lead a team of district event staff, consultants, vendors, volunteers, and other event staff to manage, design and create events/special projects and ensure the overall quality of work produced represents district branding in the marketplace.
- Collaborate with district department leads and partners to conduct market research, gather information, determine site selection, and develop program for district events, campaigns, and grassroots events for schools.
- Establish action/communication strategies and workflow for all signature events to deliver timely elements and enhance the event experience.
- Lead a team of video professionals to create, direct and produce long and short form documentaries, promote and special projects that enhance and elevate the district story and experience.
- Direct the development of all visual elements and logistics for signature events/special projects, including photo and video shoots, design and graphic elements, lighting, staging, sound, student performance, prop selections, etc.
- Write and or coordinate copy, talking points, ads, scripts, etc. to support and market events, programs, and other initiatives.
- Develop Request for Proposals to ensure events have appropriate vendor selection to produce events from audio/visual elements, to logistical, venue options, etc.
- Consult with departments, districtwide, to provide artistic direction and workflow management for their departmental events, including HCM, Leading and Learning, Strategic Initiatives, and others.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in public relations, marketing, hospitality, corporate communications, or a related field.
- Five years of experience in communications, production, event planning, or related field.
- Must have detailed knowledge of district procurement process and requirements.
- Must be skilled at problem solving.
- Must be detail oriented, highly organized and strong project management experience.
- Artistic ability to visualize and implement creative designs and settings.
- Must have experience with web design and video editing, photography, and video production.
- Must understand the dynamics involved in planning an event, including set/stage/room designs.
- Ability to research, identify and scout best locations for events.
- Ability to communicate well with others-written and orally.
- Proven experience managing multiple complex projects, simultaneously.
- Experience working with a variety of audiences and stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Comfortable integrating video and presentation components in events.
- Knowledge of staging, lighting, design and video production as it relates to coordinating events.
- Must have a customer service focus, along with interpersonal and negotiation skills.
