About the RoleThe Director of Imaging Services at UNC Health Appalachian will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the imaging services provided at Watauga Medical Center and Charles A. Cannon Jr. Memorial Hospital. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive experience in medical imaging, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities include:
Leadership and Management:- Provide strategic leadership for the imaging services department, ensuring alignment with the overall goals and objectives of UNC Health Appalachian.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the imaging services department, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement among imaging staff.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards, including those set forth by The Joint Commission, FDA, and state health departments.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of patient care and image quality.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement protocols and procedures to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
Technology and Equipment Management:- Oversee the procurement, installation, and maintenance of imaging equipment and technology.
- Stay abreast of advances in medical imaging technology and recommend upgrades or replacements as necessary.
- Coordinate with IT and biomedical engineering teams to ensure optimal performance and uptime of imaging systems.
Staff Development and Training:- Recruit, train, and mentor imaging staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to staff members.
- Support professional development opportunities for imaging staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Patient Experience and Satisfaction:- Monitor patient feedback and satisfaction metrics related to imaging services and implement improvements as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless and positive experience for patients undergoing imaging procedures.
- Address patient concerns and complaints in a timely and empathetic manner.
Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. This position is a highly compensated position. Benefits eligible after a 60-day waiting period. Must be willing to travel between facilities in Boone, NC and Linville, NC.What You NeedMinimum Education
- Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a medical imaging setting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
Required Registration/License/Certificatio
- Current licensure or certification in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association is required at time of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of medical imaging technology, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy equipment as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating imaging equipment and performing procedures.
- Visual acuity and color vision necessary for interpreting images and assessing patient conditions.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a clinical setting within imaging departments and associated administrative offices.
- May be exposed to radiation, infectious diseases, and other hazards typical of healthcare environments.
- Regular interaction with patients, staff, and physicians in various clinical settings.
- Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate departmental needs and emergencies.
