Job Description:
As the Director of Indirect Procurement and Strategic Sourcing, you will be responsible for leading the commodity sourcing team for indirect corporate goods and services included but not limited to Facilities, Operations, IT, HR, Professional Services, Hospitality, Ground Support Equipment and Tooling, among others. You will be accountable for the development of sourcing strategies, contract negotiation, creating corporate alliance partnerships, supply risk mitigation, cost reduction, protecting operating supply, and improving services and quality levels. As a sourcing leader you will be expected to develop solutions for identifying risks to the schedule and mitigating these risks to avoid schedule deviations. You lead your team to develop commodity-based strategies to navigate a wide range of partnership and contract formats to support our sales development & spaceport development plans. In addition, you will proactively maintain and track commodity risks and opportunities and provide mitigation plans as needed in support of our supply chain and program needs leveraging your experience to help the team navigate challenges including market constraints, raw material availability and contract language. As Virgin Galactic grows its commercial spaceline, you will be leading efforts in collaboration with our commercial and marketing teams to ensure our customer experience continues to develop and thrive with high performing vendors and partnerships.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, lead, communicate and execute the global commercial indirect procurement strategy across indirect categories and coordinate the full procurement strategy to leverage and optimize Virgin Galactic's position in terms of quality, response time, risk, and total cost.Influence, engage, collaborate, and partner with senior executive stakeholders and coordinate the opportunity of indirect procurement savings and increased payment terms.Ensure that targeted financial savings are achieved within a framework of financial control and that new business savings are achieved incrementally year-over-year.Lead, mentor, develop, and empower the procurement team to maintain a high performing category sourcing unit including strong cost/service performance and strong engagement/service mentality with stakeholders.Partner with function/budget send owners to execute the sourcing process including supplier identification, competitive bidding, negotiations, selection, contracting, and performance management.Provide leadership and guidance to the team to create commodity road maps enabling the achievement of critical business targets as well as improving ease of business on a repetitive basis.Develop and implement a communication plan for the strategic plan, once developed and providing for business change management across sites to drive utilization of commodity strategies while serving as the point of contact for team strategy, execution and performance.Mitigate risk, leverage technology and purchase power and improves processes and systems.Lead by example through Virgin Galactic's values, in with respect to straight-up way which fosters, transparent, and open communication.Review and approve trade studies to develop business cases resulting in recommendations to support investment decisions in tooling and supplier developmentDevelop supplier networks for key spend categories; promoting cooperative relationships with suppliers and ensuring that all suppliers are treated in a professional, ethical and fair manner.Conduct RFx development, negotiations, and contracting to reduce spend while ensuring high levels of service. Lead complex processes for Requests for Information, Requests for Proposal.Create development plans for commodity managers and encourage the further education to support our succession planning.Requires Skills and Experience5+ years experience negotiating and executing contracts with service providers including hospitality, digital media, construction, corporate alliance partnerships, branded merchandise & luxury goods, apparel commodities Knowledge of industry including experience w/ low-cost strategic sourcing, technology/development engagements and contract negotiations8+ years experience in strategic sourcingAbility, willingness to travel 30-50% depending on business needs and engage with suppliersMinimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preference given to supply chain 10 years of industry experience in progressive technical and leadership rolesEnergetic, passionate and organized leader ready to lead a team supporting complex factory and facility sourcing Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a complex product development environment with multiple priorities as well as a disciplined production settingExperience with IMP/IMS, risk management, configuration management, requirements management processesUnderstanding of Produce Lifecycle Management, Configuration Management, Configuration Control, ERP and MRP systems.Excellent verbal and written communication, excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.Team player with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.Experience with Oracle or ERP/MRP demand management systemsIn-depth knowledge of the marketplace conditions for a broad range of strategic commodities including industry pricing, technology and supply/demand trends.Working knowledge of global supply chain management issues and practices.Strong presentation skills, and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with various internal and external stakeholders.Ability to evaluate, prioritize and work a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.Preferences:Six Sigma CertificationCPIMPMP CertificationMaster's Degree#LI-LNThe annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $123,200.00–$197,150.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity.
