Location : Bolivia Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202400044 Department: Professional and Technical Opening Date: 10/08/2024 Closing Date: 12/6/2024 11:59 PM Eastern General Function The Director of Information Technology serves as a faculty leader and faculty member with administrative oversight for the Information Technology (IT) programs on a variety of student, faculty, budget, planning, and personnel issues found within the Professional & Technical Division. The Director is responsible for supervising all IT degree and certificate programs. Administrative oversight includes the coordination and development of long and short-term planning for IT program offerings, course scheduling, evaluating and giving feedback to full-time and adjunct faculty on instructional performance, development of professional development initiatives, as well as institutional policy and procedures. As a faculty member, the Director performs the instructional and reporting expectations of faculty including appropriate course loads and additional responsibilities. These additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Duties and Responsibilites
- Serve as the Director of Information Technology
- Teach a class load as noted appropriate for academic Directors in the Faculty Schedules and Workload Policy
- Provide coordination, oversight, leadership and day-to-day supervision and operation of the Information Technology department
- Provide leadership to and promote collaboration among full-time and adjunct department faculty
- Set a climate for positive attitudes, growth and expectations among faculty by supporting the goals and objectives of the college and division
- Serve as a mentor to the department's full-time and adjunct faculty in establishing key goals and objectives
- Coordinate the annual program operating budget and track expenditures in operational areas
- Recruit, hire and orient credentialed faculty members
- Accurately maintain all required college records/reports
- Assist in developing new programs within the department
- Participate in department, division and college-wide advising activities, including training sessions
- Participate in professional development activities
- Promote Brunswick Community College, the division, and the departments supervised
- Contribute to curriculum development, program review, and assessments
- Schedule, organize, and maintain departmental advisory committees when appropriate
- Finalize spring, summer and fall semester schedules for their respective departments
- Evaluate the performance of every full-time and adjunct faculty member in the department annually
- Review and choose textbooks, reference materials, software, etc. in collaboration with faculty
- Participate in meetings with the Dean, Administration, community members and serve on committees
- Adhere to the departmental course guidelines and ensure content is SACSCOC compliant
- Maintain safe and fully equipped classroom facilities by reporting issues to appropriate departments
- Foster a student-success-centered environment in their departments that supports the College's Mission, Goals, and Core Values
- Serve as a mentor, advisor, evaluator, and instructor for our students
- Be accessible to assist staff, students and department faculty as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- With those additional responsibilities, faculty members designated as Directors should expect that their workload will also exceed that of nine-month, full-time faculty members. In recognition of those additional responsibilities as Director, they will be paid a stipend of $100 per month effective immediately upon being hired to that position. This position contract length will a ten-month position.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a closelyrelated field from a regionally accredited university or a Master's Degree from a regionally accredited university with 18 graduate hours in Information Technology, Computer Science
- Three years' experience in academics and assessment in a community college or university
- Academic advising experience in a college or university setting
- Understand and be committed to the unique nature and role of Brunswick Community College and the community it serves
- Demonstrates excellent oral & written communication skills
- A commitment to professional excellence
- Ability to work with diverse faculty/student population and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Requirements
- Current industry-recognized certifications (i.e.: MCSC, Security +, Cisco, Net +, etc.)
- Programming experience with language including: Java, Python, C++, VB.net, C#, etc.
- Experience in teaching computer science, database, or cyber security in any of the following formats: teaching seated and online courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
