ROLE PURPOSE
The position of Director, Institutional Business Development, Retirement Plans plays an important leading role in the development and management of institutional client relationships in the North American asset management market. As a member of the North American Client Group, the Director will drive direct sales within the US to institutional asset owners (public funds and corporations). This position directly reports to the Head of US Institutional Business Development, Gene Guevara.
The Director, Institutional Business Development is responsible for leading the development of new institutional client relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Independently develop sales opportunities with Corporate and Public Plans retirement plans located in the US under the supervision of the Team Director and in coordination and collaboration with the existing sales team. Coverage of opportunities within other channels as deemed appropriate by the Team Director.
* Exact coverage is TBD; likely a split of West Coast vs East Coast but can be flexible based on collaboration with current sales teammate coverage of Retirement Plans
* Respond to detailed investment information requests and RFIs/RFPs in a timely, accurate and persuasive manner with the support of the Client Group.
* Assist in the development of marketing materials and presentations.
* Ably represent Impax in meetings with prospective investors.
* Transition new client relationships to US client service personnel on a seamless basis during the first year of the mandate.
* Help build Impax's profile in the US by attending and presenting at designated events.
* Assist in other projects, as requested.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have a proven record of strong sales and organizational skills and a proven track record as a fundraiser.
Specific qualifications include:
* Demonstrable track record of sales success achieving and surpassing individual sales goals with institutional investors (e.g., $250 million+ annual AUM sales)
* 10+ years of work experience in the institutional market
* Client-centric personality with the ability to work with a broad spectrum of institutional clients
* Someone who puts the team before themselves; a humble leader who checks their ego at the door
* Excellent attention to detail while working through tight timelines
* Ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple tasks in a professional, fast-paced environment
* Problem solver and strategic thinking; strong problem recognition and resolution skills
* Ability to work within a team and independently
* Knowledge of securities markets and current market conditions
* Willingness to travel
Education and Credentials:
* A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
* Advance degree, CFA, or CAIA preferred.
