The Opportunity:

FE International is looking for a senior investment banker (the “Director”) to originate and execute new transactions for new clients that utilize the firm's broad array of strategic and financial advisory services. The Director has two primary responsibilities, with equivalent emphasis: (1) the generation of fee revenues for the firm through the engagement of clients for investment banking transactions, and (2) the flawless day-to-day lead execution of strategic and financial client transactions originated by others.

The Director will be responsible for gathering, analysing, and documenting information from potential new clients necessary for the firm to provide a new business presentation (pitch) to advise the client in a proposed transaction involving one or more of its businesses. The Director should have client relationships and expertise (or at a minimum, developing client relationships and sector expertise) in one or more technology sectors, and will use his own broad and deep relationships and networks of clients to prioritize those clients who are best suited and most likely to retain FE International as their strategic and financial advisor. S/he will develop an expanding cadre of client relationships in target industries and geographies, hailing from private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, corporations, family offices, and entrepreneur/individuals. The Director must be expert at the execution of merger, acquisition, and sale transactions, or as the case may be, private debt and equity capital raising.

Responsibilities:

  • Soliciting potential new advisory business from the Director's existing network of technology sector relationships across private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, corporations, family offices, and entrepreneur/individuals;
  • Gathering information about a business from potential clients;
  • Reviewing documentation provided by clients with expert analysis of financials, metrics and operations required, for review by self or the Managing Director;
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and other internal teams within FE International to prepare and present analyses and presentations designed to prompt the client to retain FE International for a proposed transaction;
  • Assisting the Managing Director and/or leading the creation of marketing materials to help clients understand FE products, services, qualifications, areas of expertise, and processes;
  • Identifying potential new clients not already a relationship with the Director from within FE International's existing database of clients and elsewhere;
  • Leading and overseeing the day-to-day execution of merger, acquisition and sale transactions, along with private debt and equity capital placements, both for his own transactions and in support of transactions originated and led by the Managing Director;
  • Advising clients on the strategy, tactics, and mechanics of strategic and financial transactions;
  • On behalf of the client, lead or assist the Managing Director to spearhead the negotiation of optimal terms and conditions for a proposed transaction; and
  • Providing all other advice and assistance required by the client or requested by the Managing Director in the context of a transaction.

Required Skills:

  • Established or advanced developing client relationships and sector expertise in one or more technology industry sectors;
  • Command of Corporate Finance theory and practice;
  • Expert at strategic and financial analysis of companies, along with the optimal structure of transactions designed to achieve strategic and financial objectives;
  • Expert at the process and mechanics of merger, acquisition, and sale transactions along with private debt and equity capital placements;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills as well as proven sales and negotiation expertise;
  • Able to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and persuasively;
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented with an aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative solutions;
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with clients in a professional and persuasive manner;
  • Ability to analyze profit & loss statements, balance sheets and communicate insights, patterns, and trends concisely;
  • Expertise drafting and producing client presentations and related materials;
  • Extensive Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word experience;
  • Strong problem-solving capability and analytical skills;
  • Resourceful self-starter, able to work under pressure and manage time effectively;
  • Ability to lead a variety of transactions and projects simultaneously;
  • Working knowledge of Capital IQ, PitchBook, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters and similar information databases; and
  • Expertise with Discounted Cash Flow Analysis, Leveraged Buyout Analysis, Comparable Publicly Traded Company Analysis, and Precedent M&A Transaction Analysis.

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum 10 years of prior work experience in investment banking, with minimum 2 years' prior experience as a Vice President with exemplary performance;
  • Established or developing industry expertise in industries and sectors relevant to FE business;
  • Previous experience working with high value clients;
  • Previously led, or was materially involved in, a minimum of 30 closed merger, acquisition, and sale transactions and/or private debt and equity capital placements during career;
  • Bachelor's degree from a leading university or college; a Master of Business Administration, Juris Doctor, or similar graduate degree is a plus; and
  • Background in mathematics, computer science, business administration, accounting, economics, finance or equivalent numbers discipline preferred.
